There's a show on tonight- Bringing Up Baby.

Looks interesting- tonight it's the strict routine method. From the clip i saw, the woman was scary! (Babies apparently cry because they are tired or attention seeking, and should be ignored in both cases!)

Should be a good one ladies!

I'm going to be watching this. Purely out of interest more than anything else!

My SIL is having her third child (first two in their teens). It's her first with my BIL (he also has two older) She has read this womans book and is convinced she will use it for baby. I find it really hard to keep my mouth shut 'cos I just couldn't do it when mine were tiny. But she doesn't really have a caring nature, and expects this baby to sleep through night straight away or else!

I've seen the advert for this programme and it looks as though they follow a different parenting technique every week. Some strict, some more earth mother etc. It does look interesting but I don't want to get too convinced by "that's the way I'm going to do it" as am sure the baby will have an opinion when she arrives - and will soon let me know what it is!

it'll be interesting to see (what i think is) a harsh, strict method in practice. I'm looking forward to the 'Earth Mother' type one aswell.

they should do a 'bit of everything and winging it' one aswell...which is the kind that works better i reckon!

PrincessMel - look at the title of this thread sweetie.

I think the winging it and seeing what happens way might be best too, but each baby is different and we will get to know how our babies like to go to bed etc as and when they arrive!

Oooops ! I knew I'd seen it but when I re read the posts I couldn't find the details!

oh my god- she's vile! ignore baby between 7pm-7am, no more than 10mins cuddling a day, limit eye contact, public breastfeeding wrong, baby must never sleep in your room...she is horrible. And apparently a baby is manipulative from the outset, and you have to show it who's boss.

i am stunned.

i am also stunned as to why anyone would let some woman tell them not to show their child physical affection, or leave them cry if it makes them feel uncomfortable.
