Best sling/carrier for a newborn?

Having a baby in four weeks and we're not buying a pram initially. We take a lot of walks through fields/countryside and so I plan to use a carrier/sling for those.
I also plan on having baby in a sling around the house etc.

I was thinking a wrap type sling for arpubd the house, and something more supportive and structured for going on walks.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking of going with the Ergobaby 360 omni, but I imagine there is a world of great carriers out there that I've not come across?

Would love some suggestions before I buy. And happy to spend a good chunk if it is worth the investment as I plan to walk 2-3 hours outside daily with baby.

There's so many lovely carriers, I had a boba 4G (which is very similar to a Tula but you don't have to buy the infant insert separately, it comes with).

I also had a connects which was nice but I found it a bit more fiddly to get on and off on my own so I preferred the boba.

There's some great Facebook groups about slings and you can usually find a local group to give you advice or to borrow.

Found the babybjorn newborn carrier great - good for husband to use too (the one for older babies not as good though).
Did also have a stretchy sling but was a right faff to put on and never felt that secure..but prob just wasn't doing it right! Have heard good things about the Ergobaby too though.
Why don't you try a sling library then you can try a few out and see what you like? I would have done that if I'd known about them as I think it's quite subjective and very much depends on your body type/shape, how hot you get, amongst other things..

I've just ordered Close Caboo for first months. Don't have hands on experience yet, but reviews look good!

The close caboo was great, really comfy to wear and easy to get baby in and out. We got a connecta when they were old enough to look around a bit more and stay awake.

I have a Baby K’tan. Persomally I think it’s brilliant. Very soft and it’s only two loops of fabric so nothing to tie or mess with. Lots of different carrying styles from birth to older. Baby is 6 months and we still use it. I was between sizes S and XS and got an extra small, glad I went for the smaller size as it stretches a little over time.
It’s also worth mentioning I had a c section and this sling kept baby well above my belly so didn’t rub the scar and wasn’t uncomfortable for me. Is there a sling library/friend you can borrow from? We found that DH and I couldn’t use the same carrier as I am bery snakk and he is very big, so what fitted me didn’t fit him too.
Also be aware that if you are doing the carrying and the sling/carrier is not adjusted right it’s very easy to put your back out. Good luck whatever you decide to go for. Wishing you a straightforward birth.

I loved my stretchy wrap. I think it was a Boba. A two way stretchy can be worn all day and baby just popped in and out, so you don’t have to retie all the time.

There are better carriers for hiking etc but the stretchy was ideal for around the house and running errands. I ended up carrying baby far more than my other kids because it was so easy once it was on.

Plus they are relatively cheap so worth getting on top of a more complex sling if you can afford it.

Whatever you get, make sure it’s easy to put on without another adult. I’m terrible at buckles on the back.

Wraps are no less supportive than structured carriers. I would recommend just getting a stretchy wrap at first; you may find that you don’t need anything else for a while.

Close Caboo was awesome. I used it until around 4 months then switched to a Beco Gemini which was more supportive for an older / heavier baby. Loved the Caboo for my newborns though.

Going to look at the Close Caboo, never heard if that one. Also thinking of the Ergobaby Embrace too, for both the house and walking.

I do like the wraps, just worried with all that material it might be too warm during July/August?

I had a moby (stretchy fabric wrap), woollen ring sling and an ergobaby. I found the moby to be the easiest, most secure and least sweaty for my July baby. Everyone's so different though, if you can try them out or get them cheap secondhand, do!

The ring sling was rubbish for me but it's the first choice for a friend of mine. Go figure!
