Aargh the constipation!

Aargh! Ladies I cant believe the constipation this time round. Even when I feel desperate to go it's an absolute nightmare. Last time I went it caused vaginal spotting which, having googled, is not as unusual as it sounds. Have started taking fybogel today, not sure how much more of this I can take!

I know many of you are in the same boat so thought I would have a whinge! Grin

Prune juice! Genuinely thought it sounded like an old wives tale but it was the only thing that worked for me when pregnant. It’s horrible though.

Thank you, have just added to asda order. Just managed to go, it was so awful I cried and I managed to block the toilet as well.

I empathise. I had a cervical ectopian when pregnant which meant every time I had to try really hard to go to the loo I would bleed horrendously and ended up on a trip to triage. The prune juice helped.

My GP recommended flaxseed every day (also prescribed Movicol). I used Linwoods Milled Flaxseed (it needs to be milled, not just the seeds themselves). It takes a bit of time but really does work. I just had it on cereal or mixed in yoghurt.

Ok get this sorted quick, it makes Piles much worse too!!

Glycerin suppositories are great for a quick fix - pop them up there And they help ease everything out. Get someone to go to a 24h pharmacy for you!

My preference is dulcoease stool softening tablets as I find prune juice and fybogel etc inedible. They work slowly but really help

In terms of diet I try to eat pears (tinned usually as cheap And easy) or baked beans every day

Go for a walk

Push your perineum gently when you poop to help ease it out

Good luck - much sympathy to you! X

Last time I was 'struggling,' I ate prunes and took two dulcolax tablets before bed. I woke up at around 4am the following morning. It worked but it was pretty brutal.

Eat a massive salad with everything on especially sweet corn. I had a huge one from subway where they put everything on and finally went after 16 weeks of never really feeling like I'd properly 'been'. Started making my own version everyday this week and have gone properly every day plus it's making me eat more green stuff

I had this reallllll bad. Think the hormones I was on for preg didn't help either. I perceived for a long time and didn't take anything. I did borrow a stool of my friend who was given it as a joke 60th birthday present. Which kind of makes you squat more when using the toilet by raising your legs. This worked amazingly well. Maybe try resting your feet on something like this.
