Scans

Just seeing what position everyone else is in. I'm due Feb 2021 with my second and my partners first. We have seen that our hospital Trust have said partners cannot attend scans.

I am devestated for my partner, he's going to be a first time dad and cannot witness the beauty of seeing our bump on a scan at 12 weeks :(

Partners still can't attend in our area (York). Fortunately my 12 week scan was before lockdown but my husband missed the 20 week scan and finding out the gender. I booked private scans at 8 weeks and 27 weeks and my husband was allowed to those, that might be an option?

Yep they aren’t allowed- I’m having my second so tbh it’s not as big a deal for us, but friends having their first are arranging private scans so their partner can attend. Also I’ve seen women at the hospital having the sex written down in an envelope at their 20wk scan so their partner and them find out at the same time.

Yeah, we're all in the same position I'm afraid. It's our first child too and I've now had 3 nhs scans alone.
We paid for a private scan at 17 weeks so OH could see our baby and we could find out fhe sex together.

Unfortunately still the same ☹️ luckily my 12 and 20 week scans where before the pandemic but I'm 34 weeks now and having to have growth scans and possible have my baby turned around as he's still breech and having to do it all alone.

It's a horrible situation. With any luck though things may change for you by your 20 week! Fingers crossed 😊

Same here, having scans almost every 2-4 w due to high risk, my husband can't attend the nhs ones..we had a private 12 and 20w scan as well, mainly due to high risk, harmony test etc and he could attend as well.

It sucks but these aren’t normal times and there isn’t much point getting down about it.

@Honeysugarbee I think people in most areas are in the same boat I’m afraid. Also our first baby. I’m just over half way and so far every appointment has been over the phone apart from 12 & 20 week Scans which I’ve had to attend alone. Also had 2 visits to the Early Pregnancy Unit due to bleeds at 10 and 13 weeks and that also had to be attended alone which was by far the worst!

It does vary by trust. Ours are allowing partners to the 12 week since the 15th June and also fetal medicine scans so if they find something they want to look at in more detail. Any early scans, 20 week and growth scans have to be alone. I'm hoping they will relax the rules again from the 4th July.

This has come up so many times on threads now. Depends on the hospital, but vast majority don't let partners in. Another option is a private scan a week or 2 beforehand. Many others have done that so their partner can come along.

My trust have just changed the rules and are allowing partners to attend the 12 week scan (but not the 20 yet) so hopefully others will change and you can go together 🤞

Melbs can I ask how you found out? Did you ask or were you informed

FYI, I just got an appointment letter today which reiterates that you still have to attend all scans and appointments alone in my trust.

Same here. But they can for private scans so we'll do that eventually.

My hospital changed their minds and starting allowing one person with you to 20 week scans, there's still time for them to change it for yours.

I had to go alone to 12 week scan but I can bring 1 person to my 20 week scan (next week)
