Anyone been told measuring 18 weeks at 16 weeks?

I just had my 16 week appointment (I'm 16+1) and got told I'm measuring 18 weeks. She didn't actually measure me she just felt my belly, would this be accurate? I'm only 5 foot so wondering if that has anything to do with it. I'm now so scared of having a big baby

That doesn’t sound very accurate or scientific? Nothing was mentioned about the size of my baby at 16 weeks. How were you measuring at 12 week scan?

1. Any abdominal measurement at 16weeks means nothing
   
2. Fundal height measurement is not accurate
   
3. You tend to grow a baby for your body (unless you have diabetes)

@BuffaloCauliflower at 12 week scan they brought me forward 2 days from LMP but everything was fine. I did think it was a bit odd when she said it

They're not even meant to measure you, let alone have a feel and guestimate at that early a stage. I'd be asking her what she was on about personally.

Midwife here, sounds like nonsense! Other than a quick feel to check where the fundus (top of the uterus) is just before I listen in, I would never pay particular attention to the size of a bump at 16 weeks! There is a rough guide as to where the fundus should be in relation to your belly button at that stage but it’s certainly not an exact art!

I didn't even start getting measured until 28 weeks!

Yeh I would ignore this, and possibly contact your midwife unit to question why you’re being told this?

Who even does this this days? Especially with what? Gadget-hands and Eagle eye? This bears no meaning at all, please do not worry at all.

I was measured at 25 weeks for the first time and my midwife said nothing at all about the size of my bump. As PPs have said, how could she possibly know?
