Post MVA advice after miscarriage

Hi, I found out last week that I had suffered a missed miscarriage, this was my first pregnancy. I opted to have an MVA procedure done under local anaesthetic as I was told it was highly unlikely that I would miscarry naturally. The procedure itself, as unpleasant as it was, seemed to go fine and I have had quite minimal bleeding since - I had the MVA on Monday. I have had mild to moderate period like pains since then and was wanting to know if anyone else has any experience of this? Just wondering how long roughly the cramping will last. Any advice would also be appreciated about fertility after a MMC, I don’t know when to start tracking ovulation etc again. Feeling quite low at the moment and like it will never happen... any experiences or advice would be much appreciated.

Sorry for your loss.
The cramping sounds normal - should settle over a few days. Wouldn’t worry unless you’re gettingincreasing pain, abnormal discharge, or fevers.
For TTC again you’ll get lots of different advice depending where you look - really it’s basically whenever you and your partner feel ready. Wait a couple of weeks post procedure and until the bleeding stops to reduce any risk of infection, and it’s a good idea to do a pregnancy test and make sure it’s negative before you try again. That’s only because if you start trying again and get a positive test you want to know it’s a new pregnancy, it will save you lots of scary waiting otherwise!
You’ll ovulate when your HCG is at or near 0- anywhere between 2-6 weeks post MVA is normal, and period between 4-8 weeks is pretty typical, sometimes longer.
Tracking ovulation can be tricky in the first cycle particularly - your body is just settling down again and you could be all over the place. I’ve had two miscarriages, first time I couldn’t tell when I ovulated afterward but got a period about day 30, second time I could pinpoint exactly when and we conceived that cycle before I got another period. Now 26 weeks with that one :)
You may see things saying wait three months - there is not evidence for that and actually there’s some research that shows that trying before three months may be better. Ditto for waiting one cycle - no evidence, although sometimes it’s good mentally to just give yourself a little time.
You can tell I’ve researched this thoroughly... there are lots of people around who will be able to comment as well, because miscarriage is just so common. Crappy time to be going through but everything will be ok.
If you post on the TTC board you’ll get heaps of advice about ovulation tracking and maybe find people in the same boat just now. X

@TenThousandSpoons0 thank you so much for your reply, yes I have heard about waiting for one period at least then other places say wait 3 but there doesn’t seem to be a medical reason as to why. I will probably wait a couple of weeks and then start thinking about ovulation tests etc again. It is a difficult thing to go through but so much more common than people realise I have found. Thanks again @TenThousandSpoons0
