Relationship tension throughout pregnancy

Me and my partner are under a lot of stress. The lockdown has hit us for six. He had to get a new job because he was laid off and now he has a very low income.
We don't live together. Instead, we're both living with our own relatives. I'm 6 months pregnant and the situation doesn't look like it's going to get any less stressful with us not being able to afford a family home for our baby and us.
He's now been diagnosed with Depression and is not in a place to support me emotionally. We even discussed potentially breaking up last night because of our arguments. I'm trying to be proactive to help prepare for baby, whilst he gets more and more closed off. We decided we'd like to work at it. We both care and love each other and would like to be a proper family, so we are giving it one more chance. If it isn't working and doesn't improve then we said that for the sake of the baby we would remain amicable and split but remain friends. He made it quite clear that he'd hope we'd get back together later, but I said I couldn't wait on that if it came to it.

Has anyone else had serious pressure during their pregnancy which has affected their relationship with their partner? What did you do? And any tips on how to make it work?

Thank you!
