That’s a great result! Mine was 1:1800 for downs so much “riskier” than yours but given my age it’s brilliant (baseline risk of 1:200 at my age). I wouldn’t give anything over a thousand a second thought. I hear about these people with results in the 100,000s but in a group of 15 mums not one of us had a risk better than 1:2000 so can’t be that common.

Yes, that's low risk, my result was around the same.
Obviously there's not 100% guarantee but if you were looking at that as the odds you were going to win a massive cash prize, you'd be thinking that the odds were stacked against you.

That is a low risk. Mine was 1:14 high risk for twin 2. DT2 does not have Down's syndrome.

@Foreverbaffled do you mind me asking how old you are. I am 37 and expecting DC4 and I am a bit worried about these tests.

Foreverbaffled · 09/06/2020 14:36

@Grumpy19 I’m 36 and my risk in my first pregnancy (three years ago) was 1:2000 so was quite relieved that it wasn’t massively different. Have you had your test results yet?

sel2223 · 09/06/2020 14:39

@Grumpy19 I'm 37 and mine came back 1:7000 (ish). Age is just one factor.

Grumpy19 · 09/06/2020 14:42

No. I'm only 7 + 5 weeks and haven't managed to get hold of a midwife yet!

Thanks @sel2223
Gosh, I didn't feel old until I got pregnant!

@Grumpy19 I know the feeling.
This is my first pregnancy, i'm nearly 31 weeks and literally feel like a 75 year old Grin

I know! Grin 'ooh my back' is my new phrase!

@sel2223 that’s a great risk score for our age group! Starting to doubt mine now ☺️ The NT measurement was 1.7mm which is good.

Yikes. All these screening result threads have got me worrying! Mine was 1:292, and I was told this was low risk and so not to worry. But everyone else is getting much lower risks! Quite scary. I'm 34. 20 week scan didn't throw up any concerns though?

Report
Foreverbaffled · 09/06/2020 16:25

@lumpydaisy don’t worry! Still definitely low risk and soft markers for Down’s syndrome would likely have been picked up at 20 week scan. Was your nuchal fold measurement within normal range at your 12 week scan?

Report
sel2223 · 09/06/2020 16:30

@lumpydaisy that's still a low risk result and equates to about 0.3% chance which is still very low. That combined with no soft markers at your 20 week scan is good news.

@Foreverbaffled my NT measurement at 13+6 was 1.9mm

Report
lumpydaisy · 09/06/2020 16:33

NT measurement at 13+5 was 2.1, so I think that's very normal?

I've never received a letter with my results, so no idea what my PAPP-A etc scores were, but given that so many women older than me (I've seen a few threads recently!) appear to have SO MUCH better scores I'm guessing my bloods must've been iffy?

Report
sel2223 · 09/06/2020 16:36

@lumpydaisy you never received a letter at all? I got a generic letter with the low risk numbers on but didn't get any breakdown of the bloods or anything like that.
I really think they would have mentioned it if there had been any issue.

Nope, as a FTM my experience of antenatal care is so far not very reassuring. I kept ringing for a couple of weeks to try to get my results and eventually got told the risk numbers when I rang at 18 weeks.

Report
sel2223 · 09/06/2020 16:47

@lumpydaisy that's not good at all!
I'm a FTM too but can't complain about my antenatal care so far.....it seems to be a bit of a postcode lottery at the minute!

I was meant to have a consultant appointment at 16 weeks, but someone (not the consultant, it turns out) cancelled it. They then tried to cancel the consultant appointment at 20 weeks too. By this point I was sure I needed the appointment to check I didn't have an incompetent cervix, so I rather abruptly told them NO you are not cancelling this. At the 20 week appointment, they still weren't going to let me see the consultant until I argued with them and quoted NICE guidelines at them. Finally when I did see the consultant she told me how this should all have been done at 16 weeks and she didn't know why it was cancelled! What if I hadn't done the research and realised I needed to fight for the appointment?! Hate to think what else I might have missed because I am new to this.

@lumpydaisy That's not on at all. I am consultant led and had an appt at 15/16 weeks then another at 28 weeks (granted, the first one was pre-covid) then got another at 34 weeks.
The only midwife appt that was cancelled was the 25 week one. I had a f2f one at 16 (pre-covid) and 29 weeks then my next one is next week at 32 weeks.
I'm so sorry you're not getting the care you should be.
