Has anyone developed IBS type symptoms?

I’m 27 weeks with my second pregnancy and really struggling with IBS type symptoms; stomach cramps, diarrhoea or constipation. I’ve had it for about 2 months. I’ve done a stool sample which came back clear so no infection etc. I’m miserable with it. Can’t figure out what’s causing it Sad any tips of what I can do/take would be really appreciated.

Sorry I can't help but I'm 14 weeks and been having similar symptoms so interested in any answers! Hope you're feeling better soon!

Yes ! I had this a couple weeks ago and it depends on what I eat. Anything garlic or onion my stomach bloated and I have a horrible taste in my mouth and bad gas and diarrhoea for the day.
Suffered with ibs years ago but it seemed to ease then I got pregnant and bam come back. Try to steer clear of any foods that upset your tummy x

I’m having similar - I’ve never had tummy issues before, always been quite proud of my stomach of steel (except for that time I had cholera in Nepal, but that’s another story).

I’m 32 weeks and have had diarrhoea/cramping/constipation/pooping up to 3 times a day at various times since week 6!

I’ve found that spice = diarrhoea
Less than 3 pieces of fruit per day = constipation
Mercury in retrograde = both in same day??

Still figuring out the details, but no, you’re not alone in erratic pregnancy bowels

@Wotsits4357542 thanks. I’ve never had it before so I’m struggling to figure out what foods cause it. I think possibly chocolate is one. I’ve heard about a FODMAP diet so going to look into that a bit more.

@Nelbert19 same! Always had a stomach of steel! I rarely suffer from stomach issues. I’ve never heard of mercury in retrograde, I’ll look into that.

I was referred to Gastro during pregnancy for same. Consultant suggested that I probably had a predisposition to it that pregnancy hormones had engaged. He thought that I'd evaded it thus far by eating well and having a healthy lifestyle. It did last all of the pregnancy and went afterwards. My sister and my children all suffer with it quite badly so I think he may have onto something about me otherwise being oblivious to an underlying condition.

@Straysocks thanks for sharing. The thing is, I’ve never eaten particularly healthily if I’m honest. I’m not obese by any means, but I do eat a lot of sugary “bad” foods and I’ve never experienced this before. I am hoping that, as with you, it goes after pregnancy. If not, I am tempted to pay for a dietician/testing of some description, because this is awful Sad

I was like that during the time I had morning sickness. I ended up on the toilet with my head in a bucket.

I'm also 28 weeks and have been like this on and off the whole time, I've spent so much time trying to narrow it down and finally figured out its the pregnancy vitamins. Thought I'd mention incase it's not good related for you either. I've started taking them at night and 🤞🏼 it doesn't seem as bad. Next step would be to take individual supplements and narrow down which one is causing it x

Was genuinely thinking about making a thread with pretty much this exact same topic!

Had dhiarreah for the last 4 days and stomach cramps and reminds me of when I had bad IBS several years ago when I was drinking a lot.

Was worrying a bit that something was wrong, but reading what others have wrote on here sounds like pregnancy might have just triggered the IBS again. So painful!!
