Just wondering when you should be seen next after your 28 week appointment please?

For my trust it’s 32 weeks, which will be this week for me, they always book me in at the appointment and tell me when the next one will be which I assumed would be standard! I guess with covid it’ll depend on the trust at the moment? X

I'm being seen at 32 weeks by GP (I'm a first time mum) and then 34 & 36 with midwife. 38 back with GP and 40/41 with midwife as necessary.

That seems to be standard antenatal schedule for 1st time mums with uncomplicated pregnancies under my trust, and so far they are generally sticking to appt schedule despite Covid - although an earlier GP appt was switched to a midwife.

I have been told when my next one is its at 34 weeks but I was just wondering if there is any difference between trusts/areas or if that's right. I had my daughter 12 years ago now so wasn't sure if I would be classed as a first time Mum again as I was seen at 25 weeks and I thought that appointment was only for first time Mum's?

Yes I have appt at 32 weeks with midwife but my friend who lives near me only has 34 weeks as she has already got a child x

I'm a FTM so will be seen at 31 weeks, then again at 34 weeks which is an appointment for all not just ftm/extra surveillance.

In my green pregnancy notes it has a page outlining the appointment schedule - I don't know how universal the notes are it's page 7 in mine.

My maternity notes say everyone gets a 28 week appt, if you're a first timer, you'll be seen at 31 weeks and if not then 34 weeks.

Just seems a long time to me, I had bloods done at 28 weeks and it'll be another 6 weeks before the midwife will discuss them with me.

The 25 week appointment in my notes says ftm or extra surveillance, so the 25 week appointment could have come under extra surveillance category rather than ftm?

You should have a schedule in your notes

falkor32 Mon 01-Jun-20 18:02:40

I’m in Oxfordshire and the antenatal pathway has changed due to Covid for FTM’s like me it’s now this www.ouh.nhs.uk/maternity/antenatal/care/schedules.aspx.

sel2223 Mon 01-Jun-20 18:28:33

My notes say I'll be seen at 28, 31 and 34 weeks with the 31 week appt being for FTM's only.

This was pre-covid though so it has been amended slightly. I had a 29 week appt and am now booked in for a 32 week appt. Not sure about after that.

As a FTM I’m due a 32 and 34 week with my GP, then back to the hospital for a 36 week (although they’re talking about doing this as a phone call which I’d rather they didn’t).

Bellsx Mon 01-Jun-20 18:53:52

@falkor32 I'm in Oxfordshire too 😊 It sounds as though 34 weeks seems about right then but like one of you said it does seem along time between the 28 week one and the next although I've just had a text about my bloods taken at my 28 week appointment saying my levels are low so I need to start taking iron tablets so I assume they would let you know before your next appointment if anything has changed.

I didn't know that about the 31/32 week appointment for ftm only- I have a 32 week appointment and I already have a child. He is 9 though so I wonder if that's why 🤔

etaketak1991 Mon 01-Jun-20 19:14:47

I’ve had my 31 and 33 weeks merged into a 32 week, then next time is 36 weeks. Not ideal, but at least the phone support has been very helpful!
