I’m 27+3 weeks, went for a private growth scan yesterday and baby is measuring on the 96th centile for his abdomen. They have advised me to tell midwife at next appointment as they might offer me glucose test For gestational diabetes. My Bmi is 25 so perfectly normal. Anybody else been through something similar?

My baby was over 97th centile for head and abdomen. The measurements were right off the scale when I looked at my print out. This was shown on 4 separate scans from 32 weeks onwards I was diagnosed with gest diabetes at 33 weeks, but it was easy to get under control and I didn't have it bad. When all my blood sugar measurements were fine (the ones I took to when I was controlling my sugars through diet) both the diabetes doctor and the consultant said it couldn't be the diabetes that led to the large baby (estimated 6lb 5 at 32 weeks). It was so big the consultant decided to have it out by C section at 37 weeks apparently the risks were worse because of my age (I'd already elected for c section anyway).

Baby born at 37 weeks, 57th percentile so perfectly average and his weight was 6lb 15. He looked so little compared to my fusty who was born at 42 weeks and was 8lb! Good luck, let us know how you get on.

My baby is 92nd centile for abdomen, I am not suffering from gd, but I am big and I ate too much rubbish for the last few weeks so that's probably why. Just to say absolutely get checked for gd, but don't worry too much x

All three of my dc were 98th centile (10lb 1st born, 8lb 13 for dc 2 and dc3 who were 2-3 weeks early).
All had abdominal measurement off the scale. I had borderline gd with dc2 only.

Hi, my baby was measuring above 95th for abdomen at 28 week scan. Had test for GD at 30 weeks but didn’t have. Belly on 97th at 32 weeks and at my last scan at 36 weeks it had settled a bit and the Belly was down to 91st percentile.

Get tested, but it may just be a big baby. Good luck, I foUnd it all a bit stressful and have tried to eat a bit better, though it probably makes no difference!
