Hi. Found out on Wednesday that we are expecting our first baby. We had been trying for a while & i had kind of resigned myself to the fact that it wasn’t going to happen. I didn’t jump for joy like I expected, I cried & i have pretty much cried since. My poor husband has apologised for me being pregnant. I do want the baby, I really do but i hate the thought of being pregnant, i hate how it’s making me feel. I lost my nan last weekend to covid-19 so still grieving for her & have the funeral this week. Not been at work since march as furloughed, obviously can’t see family & friends & am just feeling completely rubbish. I have been honest with my husband & my family about how i am feeling, my sister is concerned I don’t want the baby but i do. I just can’t envisage the next 8 months if it’s going to be like this. Has anyone else felt similar? Can anybody offer any advice? Thank you

Hi Confused9876. Firstly Congratulations!
Sorry you’re going through all of these sad feelings.
This is hormones for sure plus of course you’ve suffered a sad loss so grieving also. I’m sorry for your loss 💐
This is a tough time.
Nothing and I mean nothing in terms of feelings lasts forever even though it doesn’t feel like it at the time!
The BEST thing you can do is get yourself out (with your earphones, you only) every day for a 30 minute walk. Playing either some positive pod-casts or music you love. If you can be out walking longer than 30 mins that’s great. Definitely daily though. You need TIME FOR YOU. Nurture yourself. Don’t fight your feelings. Let them out. Be kind to yourself. Fresh air and positivity in your ears will help heaps.
I promise this phase will pass. Have faith.
Now get them earphones on and get walking! Wishing you all the best xx

Honestly the first trimester is the worst. I was so down the whole time and this is a very much wanted baby too. There are so many hormones flying around your body at the moment that you’re bound to feel more emotional. As pp said, get out for a walk each day. It’s amazing what fresh and exercise can do. I also found the headspace meditation app really helpful. It’s not something I’m usually into but 10 mins a day really helped me. Try to get to bed early, tiredness makes everything worse. It will get better soon though. I found the fog suddenly cleared around 10/11 weeks.
