Pregnancy

Unexpectedly pregnant, advice needed

I found out yesterday I am pregnant, shock is starting to wear off. I think 4/5 weeks depending on whether I'm going by LMP or suspected ov date.
My last child was born over a decade ago so I assume advice has changed.
Please can you advise what supplements I should be taking etc. I'm going to be an older parent!

In Scotland we are given but C, D and folic acid.
I’d really recommend you start folic acid, as that is best in the 1st 12 weeks.
Congratulations xx

Congrats!! Folic acid- dose depending on bmi and family history (bmi over 30 you need the prescribed dose of 5mg, or if you have family history of spina bifida) other than that just regular over the counter folic acid. And a good pregnancy multivitamin like pregnacare or seven seas. Congrats and good luck

I used pregnacare in all my pregnancies, they have all the vitamins u need, they advise u to take a supplement at booking in, it’s included in pregnacare.

I use pregnacare. Started with the normal ones then went onto the max ones.

You only really need vitamin D and folic acid but I had really bad sickness and struggled to eat health foods so worried baby wasn't getting all the nutrients she needed hence the multi vitamins.

It’s worth noting that being pregnant puts you in the vulnerable category for covid 19.

@tiredandemosh1 haha yes they are hard to swallow but you get use to them. When I told people I was pregnant I would start crying lol I had a mc 7 years ago and was told I had pcos so I had accepted I was very luck to have 2 children already and never used any contraception In that time and the same partner as I've found when I went to midwife booking appointment they ask was I with a different partner

@Goldenmother aw that's lovely for you. I've not actually told my DP yet. I need to sort it in my own head first and not worry him.
