Anyone got any advice to help me get my appatite back??

Hi,
I have had D&S (Sorry if TMI since Monday and a general feeling of being under the weather. The D&S has since calmed down and I am able to keep fluids down, but I have no appatite whatsoever.

I am 32+3 weeks today and I remember feeling like this when I was first pregnant and I lost a lot of weight with it, I am now 4 and a half pound lighter than before I got pregnant. Not a bad thing as I was overweight anyway. I didn't ever want to see another piece of food again if I could help it, but forced myself to have small things.

The thing is I am slightly worried as this is the point that the baby starts to put down fat stores and I really cannot bear the thought of food, I am no longer feeling/being sick but I just cannot have food near me. I have completely lost my appatite (sp?)
I have called my MW and she has said that as long as I am drinking plently of fluids I should be OK, but to call back if it is still ongoing in a couple of days.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can encourage my appatite to return, is there anything thatI can do??

Also did anyone else get this?

TIA

the baby will be fine - it's you you need to worry about

If you're ok with fluids could you have soup? milkshakes? hot chocolate? smoothies? Yop?
If they all sound awful, Lucozade Sport, or even just a good squash (like Rock's or Bottlegreen (NOT no-added-sugar ones) will get some sugar into you and give you some energy and calories.

Is there anything you can stomach? I got to a point I really couldn't eat, but could stomach crackers, kit kats and sainsburys microwave lasagnes (yuk!) - not ideal but better than nothing at all. What MrsB says aswell.

Thank you, I tried some soup yesterday but it just made me throw up after a couple of spoonfuls!! I will try again today though as I'm not feeling sick, just hope I can keep it down.

Will try a smoothie, I practically lived of them in my first trimester!!

Qootiepie, no there is nothing I can stomach at all, I cant even bear to be in the kitchen at the minute.
I cant even bear the thought of turkish delights, which have been my mega big craving all the way through!!

I'm feeling very sorry for myself and it makes me want my mum

Thank you all for your advice I really appreciate it.
xx

Milk might not be the best thing if you have an irritated stomach. It could be what is making you feel like not eating.

I would stick to soups (not cream ones eg cream of tomato, but clear ones) and some tea (black if possible, maybe with a spoon of sugar even if you don't normally have sugar in your tea) and nibble a cracker or two.

If you have been ill for 4 days, your stomach will have shrunk a lot so that means you feel like you have no appetite. Whatever you find you can stomach, just have that in small and frequent amounts.

Don't worry about the baby. The baby finds its nurtrition wherever it can, which might mean some of your excess weight disappears - hooray!

You know things like crackers or even plain crisps something savoury without much flavour may work if your struggling to keep food down and just have nibbles......same with those drinks and smoothies get a straw and just sip. Sips and nibbles are better than nothing and hopefully should stimulate your appetite. Don't have any fizzy drinks though just yet flatten them first, give them a shake. The fizz may aggravate your stomach.

Flat coke was pretty good when I felt ill. As MrsB says, don't get the no caffine no sugar type, get the full fat whole hog to get some calories Sometimes it used to stimulate my appetite abit.

Thanks DG, I must admit my main concern is for the baby, I just hope I'm not gonna hurt baby with the lack of food.
But MW isn't concerned so I'll ring her in a couple of days if I'm still the same.
I'm gonna try and have a fruit tea, with a bit of honey, I think.

Thanks Upsadaisy and Qootipie, I've just rang my mum and she is gonna come and look after me today (I think I've turned in to a 5 year old ) She's gonna be bringing some bit and bobs round for me to try and get some calories in me.
