Early pregnancy anxiety

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new here so excuse me if I'm posting this in the wrong place or use the wrong terms :)! I found out a couple of days ago that I am pregnant. Clear blue digital says between 1-2 weeks since conception yet my AF tracker app says 5 weeks obviously counting from the first day of my missed period.

To say I'm anxious about the whole thing is an understatement.

I'm nauseous all the time and have a bloated heavy feeling in my stomach (also have tingling sensation in my boobs is this normal? I've never been pregnant before so I have no idea what I'm meant to feel 😂)

Anybody else going through a huge anxiety spike?

Sorry if this is a bit dreary, I'm just panicking I think, long road ahead!

I'm just overly cautious to be excited about the whole thing. I'm even doubting whether my lines are progressing etc... so any advice or reassurance would be greatly appreciated!

Test 1: 17/5/20
Test 2: 18/5/20
Test 3: 19/5/20

Hey OP, congratulations firstly! But you do need to try and be calm as you have many wonderful weeks ahead of you.

It is normal to feel anxious, and I would suggest you just focus on being positive. One thing about pregnancy is that once you have achieved it everything is out of your control afterwards on the most part.

Have you had a bad experience before? Is that why you are so anxious? Yes, sore boobs are very much a symptom! So is belly ache, cramps, back ache, head ache, nausea, vomiting, etc. Welcome to motherhood!

Hey congrats! Im exactly the same (even my test dates are the same as yours!)

Im totally anxious too. Ive had a good cry. I think its normal. Im still a bit worried as ive miscarried in the past but I can actually acknowledge that im pregnant now whereas a few days ago I didnt want to believe it out of fear.

Hi guys thank you for replying!
This is actually my first pregnancy ever, i think the fear comes from both my mother and sister struggling to carry, kind of convinced myself I will too trying to enjoy it day by day as I'm sure symptoms are a good sign things are going well? They do seem to come and go in waves though I'm not sure if that's good or not?

@Lottie3093 can not believe we have the same test dates! I was exactly the same in regards to not believing it at first, I think day by day as things get stronger it really starts to hit home Grin keep me updated with your progress? Nice to know someone's kinda feeling the same way I am and at the same stage too!

Hey

Totally relate. I struggle with anxiety normally and have found myself up and down a lot since I found out!

Unfortunately my anxiety is pretty high right now as I've been spotting :(

Try to accept things are out of your control (easier said than done I know!!) And just let things happen x

@Violetlilac the whole experience adds to anxiety when you already suffer from it in my opinion SadI suffer with anxiety in day to day life but never this badly! I'm sorry to hear your going through the same, it really is stressful. Fingers crossed for you, spotting can be normal from what I've read so like you say easier said than done but try to think of the positives x

@loumorgan97 yeah I initially only had positives on a Frer but ive now got positives on cheap ones so im finding it more real now. Ive let me gp know and a midwife is ringing me next week. Im telling my parents too tomorrow so definitely starting to feel more real. Im still scared though and keep checking to make sure AF hasnt just done turned up Blush Grin

Yeah definitely! Keep me up to date on yours too!

@LouMorgan97 before this scare (which is now the focus of my anxiety!) I initially had panic attacks then anxiety about pregnancy, my doctor and parents calmed me down. Since then I've been flipping between huge excitement and moments of omg my life is going to change so much how will I cope 🤣

@Lottie3093 the idea of telling your parents it so exciting! I've not even considered telling my mum yet, no white sure what she will think! I'm honestly still struggling to believe it all myself 😂! I've not rang my GP yet, kind of assumed I would be phoning too early? Would you recommend calling now?

@Violetlilac I've not even started thinking about the massive life change 😂 I can't imagine what life will be like with a little mini me! Try to stay calm, how far along are you?Grin x

@LouMorgan97 im actually quite scared of telling my parents and I dont know why haha. I would delay it but im going to have to tell work asap as im a chemotherapy nurse and I cant handle chemotherapy whilst pregnant but I dont want everyone at work knowing before my parents so I have no choice really.

I dont think its too early to tell the gp. I think every practice is different and they might just say theyll get in touch in a few weeks. There might be a backlog or reduced service at the minute so I just want them to know now incase theres any delays plus im on medications and im scared to take them without discussing with gp first x

@Lottie3093 oh I see! Probably best to let the parents know first Wink I'm sure they will be thrilled for you! Thankfully I'm not in a situation where I need to tell my mum yet, honestly don't know how. Good luck with yours though, let me know how you get on!

That's a good point gp wise, I'm debating letting mine know within the next couple of weeks, sooner the better I suppose? I've started taking folic acid supplements anyway, though I wonder if there are any really good pregnancy vitamins that give you everything you need in one go?x

@LouMorgan97 I'm taking the seven seas pregnacare ones - they have folic acid and 20 other vitamins?! They seem to be ok for now!

@Violetlilac good to know! I've literally just been taking plain old folic acid but was sure there was something better! Was worried some brands wouldn't be as good! I'll pick some of the ones your suggested up x
