Clear weekly indicator pregnancy test says 2-3 weeks. Confused

Hi everyone. I hope you’re all doing well.

I did a clear blue test for the first time today and it came up 2-3 weeks. That would be 2-3 weeks since conception right? My cycle is normally around 30/31 days although last month it was the longest it’s ever been at 33.

The first day of my period was the 13 if this month. I have five whole days until my next expected period. 2-3 weeks from conception would be considered 4-5 weeks pregnant. But how can I be that far along when there’s still five days left until my 30/31 day cycle finishes?

Sorry if the answer is really obvious I’m just really confused.

A clearblue coming up 2-3 means you've been pg for a while. Could the last period you had have actually not been a period?

Yes it is all a bit confusing.

Pregnancy is counted from the first day of your last period. That means that for the first 2 weeks ish you aren't actually pregnant. They do this as conception is very hard to judge whereas women are more likely to remember when their period was.

Digital tests count from conception so you need to add a couple of weeks to that.

At the 12 week scan they will adjust your due date according to measurements they will take as that is more accurate.

It's all kinda close to guesswork though. Only about 5% of babies actually come on their due date! My son was due on the 12th, adjusted to the 16th but actually born on the 3rd!

I don’t know I was so sure I was pregnant last month I really was getting symptoms I took tests and they all care negative. I had a normal five day period like I normally do tbh . I did have unprotected sex on the 23 and 24 of last month. The app says that I ovulated on the 27 last month. Unless I was ovulating a few days before around the time we had US?

Yes your dates don't make much sense do they? Could your last period have been implantation bleeding?

I wouldn’t read too much into the weeks tbh, hcg levels vary from woman to woman and particularly urine hcg as the concentration in your urine can depend on how hydrated you are

I’m so confused now. Last month it was a four day bleed. It was heavy for two days out of the four. I mean I was filling a pad. Isn’t implantation light? So how far along am I actually

Could have ovulated early, could be that you have a higher HCG level, I’ve only ever seen a 1-2 on the weeks indicator once, at 6dpo (known ovulation due to BBT charting) in my 5 pregnancies, the rest have all been 2-3 weeks despite testing before period was due.

Ok good to know that it’s common. Well the month before last my period was four days late so you’d assume I’d ovulate late but according to all this it seems I was ovulating around the time we had UP. Although the app said it was three days later. Must have ovulated early. How long did you wait until you rang your local gp to tell them. I’m guessing I’m only around 4 weeks yet

No wait. If I include the the days from where I think I ovulated I’d still only be just over 2 weeks. Urgh kind of wish I never took this clear blue now

Just over 2 weeks is 2-3 weeks. The midwife will date it from your last period until you have a dating scan anyway.
So work out the first day of your last period. That is now day one of your pregnancy until you have a scan.

3w 5days that would make me. When would be ideal to ring to let them know I’m expecting. I’d be quite a way away from my first scan right

I wouldn't put too much faith in to the app being exact, although they are very clever in a lot of ways they are making predictions a lot of the time.
Congratulations!

I don't see why you'd have had to ovulate early - sperm can live for several days inside you.

You'll need to have a booking appointment around 10 weeks (here anyway) so give them a ring around 8 weeks to get in with the midwife.. normally you'll have to fill in a form to take with you but I'm not sure how they are managing that in lock down.

From there your midwife will book you a scan and you're on your way!

In the uk you have a booking appointment (i believe at the moment it’s over the phone) at 8 weeks, I phoned up at 5 weeks.

It’s just that around that time I was having quite a bit of cramping and discharge and around the time I was due to ovulate it had started to calm down but I just put it down to pre ovulation cramps? It could be either but when I look back my body felt like it was ovulating then

I got 2-3 weeks at 13dpo so if you ovulated around the 24th March that seems perfectly possible to me

The dating didn’t work for me at all, I showed 2-3 for several day’s (v expensively obsessed!) then 1-2 a few days later (with me then thinking I’d have another miscarriage) and then back up ... I didn’t reach 3+ till a good 10 days after I thought I should. I then read they really aren’t that accurate dating wise.

When I got a confusing pregnancy test I was pregnant with twins. Not to scare you!

Report
Katnissx · 07/04/2020 22:08

I wouldn't worry, I don't think the tests are particularly accurate. I remember when I was pregnant with my DS the clear blue didn't progress in weeks when I expected it to and I ended up worrying about miscarriage, but he turned out absolutely fine!

Just wanted to mention too that you can self refer to the midwives online through the NHS, if you google 'self refer midwife' + your area, it should come up with the right NHS link and then you fill out a form online and the midwives call you back. I'm 4 weeks pregnant and I've just done it 😊

Oh no I would absolutely love twins! It would complete our family imo ☺️

Thought I'd jump on this as I had similar experience..

I had my last period 28th April (length 4 days) bleeding as usual and pain first 2 and bleeding slowed down the other 2 days..
2 weeks later I start with the worst cramps I've ever had on the 12th May.. -(period wasn't dure for another just over a week) but thought its probably just going to come early

On the 15th May I spoke to Dr over the phone who said do a test, ring back and let us know, if its positive you could be having an ectopic pregnancy if negative I'll prescribe you some pain killers
Tested and BFP clear blue weeks said 2-3.. Ttc for 1 year!

I was sent to early pregnancy ward where I had bloods and scan..

Didn't see much but sac was in the right place and blood levels where high so definitely pregnant..

Bloods again 48hrs after and hcg levels doubled again

1 week later I got to have another scan as a check up from last one ( still having bent over double cramps) and I'm measuring 5 weeks 3 days!

  • I have no idea how it all worked out like it did (thinking I had my period as normal) but Dr definitely thinks the last period was implantation bleeding, which was exactly like a normal period for me, no spotting or discoloured discharge since :)

Hope this helps reassure you in some way, good luck with your pregnancy 💕
