Hi,

I just found out I was pregnant. I’ve been trying for about 4 months and was started to get down about it but amazed it’s happened.

Has anyone else just got the good news too? Smile

Congratulations ❤️ When is your due date?

Me too! Found out on Sunday. Second baby and first month of trying, surprised it happened so quickly. I’m an nhs worker so going to have to tell my line manager today as will be isolating for next 12 weeks (and working from home.) Hate telling work so early but has to be done I guess.

My due date is 4th December. Got my first midwife app on 27th April x

@Salliejt is your midwife appointment face to face? I’m going to call GP today and arrange but wondered whether it might be by telephone. Due date of 8th December here.

Salliejt · 02/04/2020 08:12

@Foreverbaffled yes I rang my GP on Monday and it's a normal face to face appointment as I have to go on my own x

@Salliejt that’s great! So important to at least have some appointments face to face and think they check bloods etc at the first one.

I wonder if you could all help me. I came off my implant in December and haven’t had a period so I don’t really know my due date. I did a clear blue pregnancy test yesterday and it came up positive with 1-2 weeks. Would you have an idea of when my due date would be? First baby and very new to all of this - and the lingo on mumsney too! :)SmileSmileSmile

@MrsVParker :) If your clearblue test says 1-2 weeks then you are 3-4 weeks pregnant. Probably closer to 4 weeks given you have a positive test result. I’m 4+ 2 today and due 8th December so you are probably a couple of days before then? Definitely somewhere in first week of December. So exciting.

Congratulation! We found out last Monday and have been trying for 3 months

That’s really helpful I thought I would be due on Christmas as I just added 39 weeks on. I didn’t realise I would be about 4 weeks. I called to the doctors and they said to make complete a form for the midwife. Congratulations to both of you. How are you feeling?

I think the clearblue weeks are from the date the egg fertilised whereas pregnancy is counted from date of last period (I know your situation is a bit different!) so add on a couple of weeks. I guess you’ll be due early to mid-December which is lovely.

I’m good thanks! Can’t pretend being pregnant amongst Covid-19 doesn’t fill me with some anxiety but I imagine things will seem very different in 9 months. Are you working from home?

Hi,

I found out I am pregnant yesterday too!
No idea what to do next (especially because of the coronavirus) do I book an appointment with a doctor?

x

Hi ju1ceb0x

You and me both! I believe we call a doctor who refers to a midwife.

Either the doctor will see you to do blood work and then refers you to a midwife, or you will be given the midwife's details to self refer from the receptionist

I'm about to give it a go myself so will let you know how it goes

I do know we're supposed to take 400mcg folic acid and 10mcg of vitamin D. The folic acid is extremely important to prevent

Congratulations!!

Hello & congratulations to those who have had some lovely news at this awful time. I am
so new to this and turned to here for some advice & comfort i guess. I have just found out I am pregnant we weren’t trying but we are happy. I am so anxious firstly as this will will be my first time but going through all this as well as coronavirus and i am already ‘shielding’ as high risk due to other problems. ANYWAY... what’s my next step
do I just phone my GP and tell them i have took 2 home pregnancy tests both positive? Thanks x

@pauline91 first time for me too. I rang my Dr's on Monday and they have booked me in with a Midwife at 8 weeks. This is at my surgery so not being referred elsewhere x

@Salliejt Oh lovely! I will ring them today and see what they say thank
you. I am just so worried about getting the appointments and help/advice while we are all staying home.

Report
Salliejt · 02/04/2020 11:58

@pauline91 I'm sure there won't be any issues getting appointments as they are a necessity to check all is ok. I was told that hubby couldn't come with me though, just hope he will be able to come to the 12 week scan x

Congratulations everyone :)

Don’t worry @Pauline91 antenatal care is still considered a priority and new guidance came out this week ensuring that women still get at least 5/6 antenatal appointments during their pregnancy. This is plenty and you will also have contact details for your midwifery team if you have any queries. In some ways it’s good that we are self-isolating for the first trimester and working from home as it’s an exhausting part of pregnancy, morning sickness is easier to cope with at home and means we won’t be exposing ourselves to covid-19 in the 1st trimester (likely perfectly safe if we did but good to be cautious.)
