This is my first pg and I'm nearing the end of my first trimester.

I'm still suffering from morning (noon and night)sickness.

When I retch over the loo, I find I'm wetting myself a little bit. blush
I thought my tena lady days would be after the baby came, not as early as this.

Is this normal? Is there anything I can be doing to help my pelvic floor?

I'm worried about my pelvic floor too but I think a bit of leaking is normal. I'm not sure hat you can do beyond the normal exercises.

The only way to improve them is to exercise them. Although don't do the one where you stop your wee mid flow as you can give yourself an infection.

Ask GP/Midwife for a referral to a specialist physio therapist

It may not be as bad as you think. I am pg with my 2nd (pelvic floor was fine after 1st) and when I vomit extremely violently, the same thing happens to me.

Surely - don't worry its normal!!

At about 12 -15 wks in pregnancy the hormones in our bodies start to relax the muscles around that area to allow the baby to grow into places used by other bits (to put it simply!)

So everything can be moved around! When we are sick we lose the control and as those muscles have been weakened it is possible to wet yourself.

I had hypermesis with my DD - and from 14 wks I wet myself everytime I was sick. Its not nice and can be v embarrasing I know (I did it in my brothers toilet at a party - threw up down the loo & wet the floor!)

I went on to have a c section and my pelvic floors muscles have returned to normal the minute she was born. Don't worry about doing the exercises now - it won't help - its happening for a reason.
