Painting while pregnant

I painted the window sills in both mine and baby to be rooms, now I had the window open and was literally painting them for all in all 5 minutes, got some on my hands but washed it off with water and soap straight away, can getting paint or breathing in paint fumes be harmful towards me or my baby? Only 7 weeks left

According to the NHS website the greatest risk would be during the first trimester and they recommend you to ventilate the room well, which you did. www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/pregnancy/can-paint-fumes-affect-my-unborn-baby/ I wouldn't worry about it at all. I would however keep the windows open at least a crack if you're sleeping in there tonight to keep it well ventilated because fresh paint can still give off solvents as it dries. Was it gloss paint (oil based) or was it water based?

Pretty sure it was water based!

Modern water based paint has low levels of solvents so I really wouldn't worry. I bet lots of mums do decorating while pregnant, especially the nursery! If it was a real risk the nhs would advise not to do it at all, which they don't.

Nope you're fine.
I painted the nursery and then decided to re-paint the entire hallway, stairs & landing (which needed 4 coats) and then I glossed everything in sight 😂

I am 25 weeks and have just finished painting my teenage daughters bedroom. I am pretty sure you will be fine.
