Anti-D injection - what to expect

I’m rhesus negative and am due to have my anti-D injection fairly soon with a midwife at my local hospital. I’ll be 28+4 when I have it done.

I was wondering what to expect - where on your body do they do the injection and does it hurt? How long does it take and are there any side effects?

Jab on the butt, stings for a minute. Done :)

They gave me a choice of jab locations. I had mine on the bum (the midwife said it hurts less there) and it didnt hurt at all, just a little pinch. And no side effects. I've had 3. It's fine.

Needle in top of arm. Tiny sting done in seconds.

I had it in the arm (actually had to have it twice due to a small bleed). It is a bit painful- ask them to do it slowly as it makes it less so. But ultimately nothing to worry about!

I had mine in my arm yesterday but have had it on the top of buttocks/ thigh in previous pregnancies which hurts less.

I think the arm is more sore because it’s smaller. It’s like any other injection though and is fine and over in seconds.

I’ve had them in both pregnancies - I think in upper arm each time. Absolutely fine no pain after.

In my first pregnancy I had it on my bum (which I feel hurt more!)
With my second in a different location they did my arm and were really quite shocked that the last one wasn't done there too!
So I guess it depends on where you are and who is giving it!

Iv had these injections 3 times and have never remembered getting them, so painless i didnt even notice...

I had to have another after I’d given birth as DS was rhesus positive, the midwife wanted to do it in my thigh but I asked for arm as I find it less painful.

Leg for me.
It's an uncomfortable achy feeling but doesn't hurt. I've had it 6 times.

I was told one in pregnancy and one again after the birth if baby is rhesus positive x
