I'm mid forties, have a coil and am three weeks late, Should I be panicking?

I can't be, can I?

I've changed my name as if I am I will need time on here without people knowing IYSWIM

I really can't be?

The thing is my coil is six years old and I've been a bit lazy getting it checked

I've dug out some old threads and seen Mears telling someone about how your fertility rapidly declines after 40, so I really won;t be will I?

don't want to go and get a test

but I know that I should - but what if I'm seen?

Surely you have a choice of chemists? Drop in at FPC for a test?

Sample into the chemist/docs?

I'd say it was unlikely at mid-forties, but certainly not impossible.

Can you pick up a test at the supermarket with your weekly shop or perhaps go late at night when you are less likely to bump into someone?

Let us know what happens

Were you in your mid-forties, AG?

Report
iliketosleep · 30/08/2007 15:32

wasnt there a 60 year old women who had twins lately or something (possibly a dream ) so id say it is likely although the coil reduces those odds, but arent you supposed to have it changed every 5 years? increases the odds....

oooooooooooooooh just test!!!!!!

I'm going to say it again...

JUST DO A FARKING TEST

If it is + then go to your GP and discuss your concerns/options.

It's not bloody rocket science.

What exactly do you want MNers to say ? You might be pg but you won't find out. FGS, grow a pair and test.

I got pg with a mirena coil at 36 (didn't know either cos periods had already stopped due to coil)

GO DO A TEST

I'm 43 and 34wks pg....intentional I must add so definately not using any form of contraception... but only decided to try one last time at Christmas and got pg in January. A pal got pg with her 17 month old at 46, had him at 47...age is relative, don't think that just because you are older you are that much less fertile...just a little less likely to be able to carry it to term (esp with an IUD in place)...and you can only prevent that (or help it terminate if you prefer) by knowing for certain and seeing your GP asap.
As everyone says the only way you are going to know is by doing the test...go midnight shopping to Tesco or Asda...and let us know how it goes.
good luck

NDP!!

Calm down

I can't do a test if I'm at work, I'm just sat here having a nice little panic!

And how can you say it again when you haven't said it once?

I've gone thru the whole, we have no money/we have no space/I'm too old/the other kids will hate this/we have to extend the house/what should I call it/I hope it's a girl/I won't be/ I will be/

while I have been sat here trying to look calm and proffessional

Have a bit of pateince with me - I'm traumatised !!

Adn I may just stalk you while I have a false name and can get away with it

I have said it before (today, in fact), on another 'am I/aren't I thread".

I have to say that these threads make me irrationally cross, I am even more peeved because I can't just ignore them.

I am PMT-Woman on the rampage

Bloody hell, that's two of you I'm stalking!!

Ok obviously we have some money, but our annual holiday (caravan in France) would have to go, and my occasional splurges in Primark for new clothes would have to be cut down, but we would still be fed and warm with a roof over our heads.

And our N reg car would have to keep going for a while!

(faker wanders off muttering about expat and NDP under her breath)

Test and THEN panic.

It's a much more sensible way to do things

Report
