I can't be, can I?

I've changed my name as if I am I will need time on here without people knowing IYSWIM

I really can't be?

The thing is my coil is six years old and I've been a bit lazy getting it checked

I've dug out some old threads and seen Mears telling someone about how your fertility rapidly declines after 40, so I really won;t be will I?

don't want to go and get a test

but I know that I should - but what if I'm seen?

iliketosleep Thu 30-Aug-07 14:30:45

say its for someone else!!! go on you know you wont rest till you've done one grin

ProjectIcarusinhercar Thu 30-Aug-07 14:33:38

Surely you have a choice of chemists? Drop in at FPC for a test?

Sample into the chemist/docs?

sandyballs Thu 30-Aug-07 14:34:48

I'd say it was unlikely at mid-forties, but certainly not impossible.

PurlyQueen Thu 30-Aug-07 15:07:21

Can you pick up a test at the supermarket with your weekly shop or perhaps go late at night when you are less likely to bump into someone?

Let us know what happens smile

HuwEdwards Thu 30-Aug-07 15:11:05

I gor pregnant at 42....

HuwEdwards Thu 30-Aug-07 15:11:31

and at the same time, my typing capabilities were removed...

expatinscotland Thu 30-Aug-07 15:12:21

it isn't likely.

AngharadGoldenhand Thu 30-Aug-07 15:18:29

I got pregnant with a coil fitted.

expatinscotland Thu 30-Aug-07 15:20:18

Were you in your mid-forties, AG?

iliketosleep Thu 30-Aug-07 15:32:09

wasnt there a 60 year old women who had twins lately or something (possibly a dream blush) so id say it is likely although the coil reduces those odds, but arent you supposed to have it changed every 5 years? increases the odds....

oooooooooooooooh just test!!!!!!grin

NomDePlumeCantFindTheCatch Thu 30-Aug-07 15:34:57

I'm going to say it again...

If it is + then go to your GP and discuss your concerns/options.

It's not bloody rocket science.

What exactly do you want MNers to say ? You might be pg but you won't find out. FGS, grow a pair and test.

NormaStanleyFletcher Thu 30-Aug-07 15:47:53

I got pg with a mirena coil at 36 (didn't know either cos periods had already stopped due to coil)

FloriaTosca Thu 30-Aug-07 15:55:00

I'm 43 and 34wks pg....intentional I must add so definately not using any form of contraception... but only decided to try one last time at Christmas and got pg in January. A pal got pg with her 17 month old at 46, had him at 47...age is relative, don't think that just because you are older you are that much less fertile...just a little less likely to be able to carry it to term (esp with an IUD in place)...and you can only prevent that (or help it terminate if you prefer) by knowing for certain and seeing your GP asap.
As everyone says the only way you are going to know is by doing the test...go midnight shopping to Tesco or Asda...and let us know how it goes.
good luck

Calm down smile

I can't do a test if I'm at work, I'm just sat here having a nice little panic!

And how can you say it again when you haven't said it once?

I've gone thru the whole, we have no money/we have no space/I'm too old/the other kids will hate this/we have to extend the house/what should I call it/I hope it's a girl/I won't be/ I will be/

while I have been sat here trying to look calm and proffessional

Have a bit of pateince with me - I'm traumatised grin!!

Adn I may just stalk you while I have a false name and can get away with it grin grin

NomDePlumeCantFindTheCatch Thu 30-Aug-07 16:07:45

I have said it before (today, in fact), on another 'am I/aren't I thread".

I have to say that these threads make me irrationally cross, I am even more peeved because I can't just ignore them.

I am PMT-Woman on the rampage

expatinscotland Thu 30-Aug-07 16:09:25

99.9% of those folks who come and say, 'Oh, we have no money' are talking out their arse.

faker Thu 30-Aug-07 16:10:17

Wish I was PMT woman

(I think............)

expatinscotland Thu 30-Aug-07 16:10:55

You can be mad menopause woman, faker.

faker Thu 30-Aug-07 16:13:50

Bloody hell, that's two of you I'm stalking!!

Ok obviously we have some money, but our annual holiday (caravan in France) would have to go, and my occasional splurges in Primark for new clothes would have to be cut down, but we would still be fed and warm with a roof over our heads.

And our N reg car would have to keep going for a while!

(faker wanders off muttering about expat and NDP under her breath)

faker Thu 30-Aug-07 16:14:15

Are you tring to out me Expat?

NomDePlumeIsIrrationallyAngry Thu 30-Aug-07 16:14:57

Test and THEN panic.

It's a much more sensible way to do things

battlestar Thu 30-Aug-07 16:15:03

do a test.
