Is heartburn a sign that labour is coming?

Or is my body just kicking me while I'm down?

39+3 today. I've had heartburn the whole way through but the last few days have been unbearable to the point where I've had about 2 hours of broken sleep all night, and my usual saviour Gaviscon isn't doing anything. I'm blissfully hoping it's a sign that labour isn't too far off, although I think I'm just clutching at straws at this point!

No it's not!! Sorry op, but heartburn had me all through my pregnancy! You must be so fed up but baby will come in their own time. Good luck

Try taking some ranitidine (zantac). It was deemed safe the last time I was pg anyway. Even the thought of gaviscon made me want to puke but I was tortured with heartburn throughout both my pregnancies.

Sorry, nope. I was also told that heartburn can ease closer to the birth as the baby shifts lower and eases pressure on the stomach.

Hang in there!

Tell your midwife and/or GP. You can get something stronger than gaviscon such as omeprazole on prescription.

Nevertalktostrangers - unfortunately ranitidine had been withdrawn from sale for months now.

Sorry OP, I had heartburn from approx 4 weeks to 42 weeks with first baby, 4 weeks to 38 weeks with second and 4 weeks to 40 weeks with third!

I also had not just morning sickness, but morning noon and night sickness from weeks 4-15 with them all and again from week 28 - birth!

Baby will come when they're ready and not before!

Try the different gaviscon flavours til you find one that is bearable!!
