8 week scan nerves-so ridiculous

Hi ,
So I have a scan on Saturday where I’ll be 8 weeks . It’s my first pregnancy . I have a medical condition (won’t affect the baby but I’m consultant lead) and I’m paying for a private scan for Saturday- it’s only £49 so not leaving me penny less so I thought it was worth it ,and then I have an NHS one at 10 weeks, 12 weeks etc as I do need to be monitored for my own health . I have zero reason to be worried about the scan. I’ve had no bleeding , no cramps (only little twinges early on before the morning sickness started), I’ve been on Cyclizine as I’ve had severe nausea and vomiting but no other concerns other than I was anxious because my agonising boobs settled down. But I’m so anxious !! I terrified I’ll get there and that there will be nothing there 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 not sure why?!
Can anyone reassure me ? Is this normal ?
Roll on Saturday 9:30am !

Congratulations ladies and totally understand where your coming from! I'm currently 8 weeks also but I'm going with more like being 7 due to my periods being so irregular and have a scan booked on Friday, so worried and nervous. This is my 6th pregnancy one beautiful dd, 4 miscarriages 1 with bleeding and 3 mmc 😢 so due to this I am now under my hospitals recurrent miscarriage clinic hence why I've booked in for an early scan. It has been a really hard and emotional journey for us so really hoping now is our time, our dd is 12 now so there would be a big age gap but we have been trying to conceive since she was 2 and with a round of IVF (unsuccessful) and these losses along the way we are praying that on Friday we will see our little bean with a strong heart beat and we can complete our little family which we so desperately want. These first 12 weeks are just soooo hard, stressful, emotional and I'm driving myself mad with worry and constantly checking when I go to the loo and making sure I still have symptoms although I don't have many really but this time does feel different to the others so I'm really hoping that's a positive sign.

cmc123x I'm so sorry to hear about your previous experiences, I really hope this time works out for you and your family ❤️ sounds very positive that this time feels different - intuition is an amazing thing! Before my DS we had a MMC so I know how thy feeling stays with you - I get paranoid every time I go to the toilet that there is going to be some blood 😟 Let us know how you get on at your scan!

@Amber82 thank you so do we. Sorry to hear you've been through it aswell, it's the most awful thing especially when you go for your 12 week scan only to find baby stopped growing at around 8 weeks.

@Debingirlies if I go by my the first day of my last period I should be around 8 weeks now but my periods were very irrregular so only thinking/ expecting to be maybe 7. If you don't mind posting a pic that would be great. Would you recommend drinking a lot of water before an early scan as I really don't want to have an internal one just in case something happens which I know is very unlikely but it's something that is worrying me and playing on my mind, sounds silly I know
