Can I wear headphones?

Maybe a strange question but there's a high chance I might need a c-section. I know you can have music played but does anyone know if you can wear headphones to listen to music?

I'm full freaked out by a possible c-section and I'd like to be able to block everything out Confused

I wouldn't imagine you'd be allowed to wear headphones as the team will be constantly talking to you and making sure you're ok.

Music playing should be ok though. Good
Luck with the C section, I've had 2 (1 EMCS and one elective) and they've been fine!

Thanks - I've Googled but it's all US information where it's clearly allowed but thought it might be different here.

Hoping my placenta will shift enough so I don't need it!

No - it wouldn’t be a sterile field if you brought headphones into theatre

Actually the answer (in my trust anyway) is yes.

However, the volume needs to be low enough that you can still hear the anaesthetist though as, as a PP says, they need you to answer questions throughout to monitor you.

If you do need to have a planned C-section, bring it up at your pre-op appointment, then you'll know for sure. Hope all goes well with the rest of your pregnancy and that pesky placenta moves away.

Yes you can wear headphones! The sterile field is from your ribs down. You’ll just need to be able to hear questions - let your anaesthetist know
