Hi all,

I am only 5 weeks pregnant (due 24th of July) with baby number 2! All went well last pregnancy (appart from horrific morning sickness from 6 - 23 weeks)

I have seen a few old threads with Ladies asking this question but would be nice to have some reassurance from other Mums to be on how terrifying the wait to 12 weeks is!

I'm so scared something goes wrong every time I go to the loo I'm checking for blood and any pains in my abdomen i feel I'm convinced something bad is happening 😭 x

Hello! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I got my BFP this evening, my EDD is 28th July! First pregnancy for me and I am terrified.....! I have a fear of being sick so very anxious about that! And now I know I'm pregnant, every twinge I feel makes me worried something bad is happening. It's like they have intensified since I took the test... so worrying! Wishing you all the best with your journey, hopefully your sickness is not as bad this time round!

Tonight? Wow that's AMAZING news congratulations! They might even share a Birthday at this rate lol. Pregnancy, Childbirth and Parenthood are the most magical but terrifying experiences in life but totally worth it. So good to have someone to talk to who is at the same stage of pregnancy and has the same worries. My 12 week scan is the 10th of January but I'm so tempted to go for a private scan at 6 weeks. The first trimesters is so long. Once you start showing and feeling baby move it's a lot easier! Wishing you all the best with your Pregnancy also.

It feels surreal! I came off the pill in August and we were just seeing what happens... felt a bit odd yesterday and today and also realised period was late so just nipped out and got test... totally shocked! I was going to have a glass of wine tonight but new I wouldn't enjoy it without first checking! Haha, they could well do. It will be nice to have someone to check in with as we go along Smile Yes I was thinking the same about the scan, dp and I have though about getting one the weekend before Christmas so we can tell our families on Christmas day with a scan picture. We also want to put our mind at ease, I feel this is going to be very long and very worrying. And difficult to keep secret this time of year! I'm known for my love of fizz at the Xmas night out with work so hiding this is going to be tricky. At the same time you just want to tell everyone because it's so exciting!

I did my test last Saturday I just had a feeling i was pregnant again. I told my DP and he sent me off to Asda for a test and the BFP showed up almost straight away. I've got a night out in Carlisle next Friday I'm not looking forward to doing that sober Haha! Nevermind the Works Xmas Party everyone is going to wonder why I'm not drinking! We've told my Best Friend my Parents and DP's Parents. It's so difficult not to spill the beans! Think that's why I'm also a bit scared because a few people know. The Scan before Christmas is a wonderful idea it's honestly such a relief just to know everything is well.

It's weird how you can just sense something has changed! Very exciting though. Oh I feel for you, I can't remember the last time I stayed sober on a night out.. I have little patience for drunk people when I'm not on their level haha. I guess it's a good thing though that you do have lots of support around you just now. And also if anything was to go wrong (which hopefully it won't) then these are probably the people you would seek comfort in also. I think we might tell a close friend but not until another week or two. I feel like it's not real yet, that I will wake up tomorrow and AF will be here. Yes definitely, every day is going to drag until we can have a scan and see everything is well. Is there a big gap between your last pregnancy and this one?

JackGordonsMummy · 23/11/2019 22:48

Good idea to tell someone else close to you! It's so hard not to shout it from the roof tops! It will sink in eventually and before you know it you'll have a bump and feel those magical kicks! Please let me know how your Scan goes? Also how your symptoms are? I'm feeling nauseous in the mornings and evenings, got strange stretching and cramps, heightened sense of smell and I'm super tired but seem to have insomnia from the worry! I think I'm going to book in for one at 8 weeks (13th Dec) with my DS I had a scan at 6 weeks because I had a little bleeding was a tiny amount but they did it just to be sure so after seeing his tiny little heartbeat (he looked like a seahorse) I felt so much relief! Also had a private 4D Scan at 26 weeks was incredible to get a proper glimpse at him! My DS was born on 02/11/17 so he has only just turned 2! So there will be 2 years 9 months between them all going well! I didn't want to wait too long and have a huge age gap plus I want him to have a little friend and hopefully they are close.

Hello! I'm 6 weeks with my second baby. I am definitely less terrified this time, but still.a little nervous. It doesn't help that the 12 week scan is after Xmas!! I have thought about booking a private scan just before Xmas (we did an early scan with my first baby) but they're just so expensive
..! I might feel.more reassured when I hear the heartbeat at the 8 week midwife appointment I guess.
Anyway, congrats to you both! I'm dreading morning sickness; I have a very lively one year old so keeping up with him is exhausting at the best of times!! I don't know why I thought two under two was a good idea...

Hi and congratulations all. I am 5 weeks today - just tested today. Baby number 2 , bit of a surprise as was starting to think it wasn't going to happen trying since January and turned 40 in August. The nausea has already hit this week, had thought it was flu as rest of the house was sick this week but it seems not!

I can't wait to get past the 1st trimester and experience the bump and movements. My symptoms so far are very sore boobs, a strong sense of smell, weird taste in my mouth and cramping. Currently the cramps are quite intense which is really worrying me.. can't sleep now. Seems to be very similar to you except the nausea, I'm sure that won't take long. Yes definitely, would love to hear about your early scan also. That's a nice age gap to have. I'm sure your DS will love having a little sibling.

Congratulations Surreygirl and mumtoone! I've found a clinic locally which does a private scan for £39, so not too bad. It's only day one of finding out and I'm in overdrive so definitely going for it. Sounds like I've been lucky with the nausea so far... I'm sure it will come soon. Although I'm worrying so much I want all the symptoms so I know everything's ok! I'm sure i may regret that haha. Wishing you both all the best with your journeys. Hopefully we all have lots of positive updates to share with one another

Hi Nishaa, congratulations on your positive. I have my fingers crossed for you that everything works out this time. I'm terrified and this is my first pregnancy so I can only imagine how worried you are. Try not to stress out, keep us posted here on how you are getting

@surreygirl1987 congratulations I must of missed your reply last night! I hope the morning sickness doesn't come to much for you. Having a 1 year old and being pregnant will be a challenge but totally worth it. I love a close age gap. I'd of had another one when my DS was 9 months if my DP would have allowed it Haha! I've been broody since he was like 2 weeks old!

Do they check the heartbeat at 8 weeks? I can't remember my mideife appointment doing it till after my 12 week scan but I'm in Scotland maybe different up here?

I get paid tomorrow so gonna book in for a 8 week scan on the 13th of Dec although might wait till the money as Friday the 13th seems a bit superstitious haha!

@hermionelodge I hope you managed to get some sleep! Reading the symptoms the cramping is normal at this point just your host moving around making room for baby! Just sp terrifying to feel. It's only been 2 years but I can't remember how I felt last time this early on appart from being sick! X

I did manage to eventually. Google.was definitely my friend last night haha. Took a lot of willpower not to keep running to the bathroom to check there was no bleeding! What a stress. Trying to stay calm and create a nice environment in there lol. I guess you go through such a range of feelings/emotions throughout your pregnancy that it will be hard to remember at every stage... unless it was horrific like the sickness. That will definitely dominate your memories! I am now just spending my morning googling what I can't eat, what I should eat, what vitamins to take.. I'm mentally exhausted already haha! X

Glad you got some sleep it was your first night it will get easier! In a way I guess it's good we have Christmas etc coming up I feel it will make December go faster and bring us closer to the 12 week mark!

When I was pregnant the first time my midwife gave me vitamins called "Healthy Start" they are the NHS ones so have all the supplements you need.

I bought them again last week from my local pharmacy they were only like £3! X

Hello everyone, congrats to all of you!
I'm 5+1 today with my 3rd. I had a chemical a couple of months ago so that's made me really anxious, so hoping this one sticks!

With both my previous pregnancies to term, I found I was worrying throughout the whole pregnancy, it didn't stop at 12 weeks for me! Part of the reason could be the MMC in my very first pregnancy which devastated us.

We haven't told anyone yet! The work Xmas party is going to be interesting 🤔

Congratulations @pottypotamus ! I'm so sorry to hear about your previous loss and Chemical Pregnancy! It's so unfair that these things happen to us! I wish there was an easier way of finding out if everything is going to be fine so we could enjoy our pregnancies without worry!

What age gap have you got?

Have you had any symptoms?

I know I've never been to a sober works Party I think I'll be leaving early this year Haha x

@jackgordonsmummy, thanks. We are away to the shops soon so I will have a look for those. Also going to buy some palmers and bio oil. I'm prone to stretch marks anyway so I doubt it will make a difference but worth a go.

Congratulations @pottypotamus! So sorry to hear of your loss and chemical. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. It is so worrying. I'm anxious anyway so I imagine I will be the same the whole of the pregnancy. Just got to try and make it to each stage. I think I will be worried for the rest of my life now haha. Yes I'm trying to work out how to go about the Xmas party too. It's so far away, if it wasn't I would just fake drink, but I'm not spending all that money on taxis when I could just drive. People will know instantly when I say I'm driving!

Thank you @JackGordonsMummy Smile

My ds turned 5 in Sept and my dd is almost 19 months.

My boobs hurt on and off, I've been prodding them to check Blush I've been nauseous on and off as well. But no other symptoms to speak of. I think I might book an early scan before Xmas.

Have you been to the doc yet? My previous experiences have been that they don't do much and I have to self-refer to midwives.

I know what you mean about Xmas party. People will know straight away when I say I'm driving. Our party isn't too far away, just the next train over so I might just fake drink haha. I'll have to make sure I go to the bar on my own and insist on having a lemonade in a gin glass Wink
