Don't hold back - would love to know what connotations, both good and bad the name gives people.

Thanks!

love it

Saturn74 Sun 19-Aug-07 11:19:30

Like it.
Connotations - reminds me of that lobster from 'The Little Mermaid'.
So all good.

It's a handsome name. Possibly some people would find it a bit stuffy but I like it.

WendyWeber Sun 19-Aug-07 11:20:38

I like it - connotations - dark-haired boy with large white dog!

Tranquila Sun 19-Aug-07 11:20:45

s'alright.

bit posh. esp as 'Seb'.

dunno whether you think thats good or bad!

FloriaTosca Sun 19-Aug-07 11:20:59

I like it. Connotations: Sebastian Coe; not my sort of politician but athletic, strong minded and intelligent. So long as you like the nickname Seb... go for it.

tigerschick Sun 19-Aug-07 11:21:00

Can't think of any connotations.

Seb is cool name for teenager.

Slubberdegullion Sun 19-Aug-07 11:21:54

I like it. ditto posh and athletic come to mind.

Roobie Sun 19-Aug-07 11:22:16

I do like it but unfortunately, for me, it conjures up an image of a spoilt stuck up little twerp.

It's my LO's middle name. DH wanted it as a first but I didn't like Seb as an abbreviation. There was a very cool Seb at my high school though.

womba1 Sun 19-Aug-07 11:32:54

I just think of the camp character in Little Britain.. the Prime Ministers secretary!
Still a nice name though

MrsJohnCusack Sun 19-Aug-07 11:33:38

I like it
And a lovely mumsnetter has a lovely son called it

kitsandbits Sun 19-Aug-07 11:35:34

Bit posh, but nice.

And will probably be a few at the school when he starts.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ Sun 19-Aug-07 11:36:24

Wonderful name.

NomDePlumeIsAShoeWhore Sun 19-Aug-07 11:40:10

I like it.

KerryMumbledore Sun 19-Aug-07 11:42:10

Young lover

Paris

26

3 days.

[I know you're thinking of your baby but that's what the name will ALWAYS mean to me - very fondly I might add)

missgriss Sun 19-Aug-07 11:51:03

I love the name Seb

EscapeFrom Sun 19-Aug-07 11:53:06

Connotations of chinless blond youths. Will most likely be doing something wet in an office. Hetrosexual, but really only because he's scared of other mmen. Passive agressive and whiney.

You asked!

KerryMumbledore Sun 19-Aug-07 11:54:04

Ah hell Escape - MY Sebastian was the COMPLETE opposite of that!

aloha Sun 19-Aug-07 11:54:32

It's fine. And if you love it, use it!

aloha Sun 19-Aug-07 11:55:47

It's not too common, not made up and stupid, not rough, has a really good history both literary and otherwise, which are all good things IMO.

EscapeFrom Sun 19-Aug-07 11:56:01

See I know people who are called Vicky who have a lot of class, and are NOT like Vikkii Pollard at all. It's all about the ones you meet first. I could never call a child of mine gemma because a kid called Gemma used to bully me - and the name conjures up a picture of her pinched, gleefully spiteful face.
