Outrageous groin pains at 38+2 wks - any ideas?

I did suffer a little from SPD but it subsided quite a bit. However, the past two days have left me in so much pain to the point where I feel I have to literally drag my feet to walk. Just to raise my leg to get into the car is excruciating. I have a DS5 and it's school holidays so it's not like I can just put my feet up. Any ideas/suggestions?

Could this be 'it' as far as labour goes? I was induced last time and as such nothing happened naturally so I am a little in the dark about symptoms - besides of course what I've read. Thanks.

it could well be early signs of labour and my only advice there would be to watch this space and monitor yourself for further niggles etc over next few days... i do however think it sounds just like spd and as you suffered with it a little before you should know the things to do and not to do etc...

maybe for your own peace of mind it would be worth calling your mw?? dont think oyu would be wasting her time as she is there to support and monitor you... it is possible baby is laying on a nerve, especially if head is engaged and it may be that the mw would need to push him over or something... good luck anyway and just think.. not long now and you'll be cradling your little bundle rather than heaving it around!

This is due to changes in the cervix approachibg labour. I had it in my last two weeks overdue and midwife explained it to me.

Painful, but a sign that thigs are changing. good luck.

the two days prior to having ds i was dragging my left leg....and barely had the strength to lift it (to get up and out of bed for example) and had excruciating pain in my groin. as i was 4 weeks before my due date i went to the hospital who diagnosed SPD and gave me painkillers/physio referal.

my waters broke at 2.30am on the third day and ds was born 8 hours later, perfectly healthy and confirming to myself and dp that OUR dates were right (we'd argued with the hospital all along)
as soon as my waters broke, the pain went...i think it must have been pressure on a nerve......

it might not be the case with you but i wanted to share this with you.

could be the child getting heavier and pressing down further on various organs.

Does sound more like SPD, definetly worth getting a physio referral as its not much fun being in that much pain especially with a 5yo to look after.

This sounds like SPD to me but it depends where the pain is. For me it was right at the front at the pubic bone, and it was truly excrutiating. Be assured though it didn't end up affecting my delivery.
