Full proof solution to constipation

Honestly, I’ve tried prunes, prune juice, kale with virtually every meal, drink about 4l of water a day....I just have to have a good clear out, it’s making me so sad. And grumpy.
Do I just have to accept that my daily routine is changed now to once a week?! I’m 33w. I also have terrible heartburn but gaviscon and otc remedies are binging me up, and the constipation is making the heartburn worse....it’s a horrid cycle...

Please PLEASE does anyone have a tried and tested old wives tale or something that will just get me going?????

Movicol.
Glycerin suppositories.
Gaviscon makes you constipated.

Movicol

Yes, I’m not taking anything for the heartburn because it’s making everything worse.

Movicol then? Is it a pharmacy job? How quick will it take effect....I’m desperate!! 😬

Put your feet on a stool (the wooden kind) to straighten your bowels.

Take kefir and linseeds/flax seeds daily. You can put them both in a smoothie

This creates magical movements: food52.com/recipes/28886-my-new-roots-life-changing-loaf-of-bread

I discovered these foods after my 2nd pg when I suffered dreadfully as you are. Hope you feel better soon.

Lactulose would be worth a try.

It could be just me but eating an orange everyday works every time. Sometimes too well. I mean a proper orange you have to peel.

The other one is chia seeds. Sprinkle on cereal etc.

I've been taking two sachets of Fybogel for the past four days and it's definitely starting to make me a bit more "regular", but in a gentle/natural feeling way.

Sorry in advance for the TMI - before, I felt like even wind was getting trapped and everything felt very full and blocked up. Last couple of days much better.

It is a horrible feeling, makes you feel grotty and generally ill doesn't it Blush

Try cutting out wheat, lactulose is also good and fairly mild, I've suffered for years. Have you considered having a colonic? I have had quite a lot over the years and you feel amazing after as it gets rid of all the build up. Also adding seeds to your food as others have said helps

Laxido!!!!!! Bloody brilliant stuff - it's not a stimulant laxative so won't make you cramp but it softens everything up tremendously so that you can go regularly and with total ease!

FYI - Laxido is the same stuff as Movicol... just a different (cheaper) brand name. Both available OTC

I’ve had a few colonics over the years for cleansing, but i only have one practitioner near me and she won’t take preggos, sadly.

Thanks all for the multitude...I have a few to try here 😊

Have you seen your gp? A change in bowel habits can be a symptom of a number of things, especially if traditional remedies aren't helping I'd want to just make sure anything more serious is ruled out

Sorry, I thought I was on another board. Didn't realise it was pregnancy related - ignore my post

Coconut water! I drank a litre a day when I was pregnant!

I suspect the OP is pregnant IceCream given this is the pregnancy section and constipation is quite common in pregnancy for many reasons including the iron in pregnancy multivitamins and prescribed for low iron.

Another recommendation for fybogel (I used to mix it with orange juice to disguise it) , and a good strong coffee.
