Does anyone know if it is safe to take Acidophilus in pregnancy or give it to smal children?

I had terrible terrible thrush in my breasts when I fed my son last year and I am now pregnant with my second. I want to avoid the same situation, clearly if I can avoid having another emergency c-section and therefore a massive dose of antibiotics that would be great. But can I start building up my natural flora and fauna with supplements in pregnancy?
I'd also like to give it to my son who suffers from thrush nappy rash, but all the supplements say not for pregnant women or under 3's (he is 18 months). Any ideas?

I was recommended acidophilus by my doctor and acupuncturist when pregnant, so it must be okay!

And I saw probiotic drops for babies advertised the other day.

I don't think it does anyone any harm.

I took it during pregnancy as I had a sensitive tummy.

A homeopath recommended I give it to dd2 after she'd had intravenous antibiotics. We used the powder and added it to her food.

Make sure you buy a good quality one and keep it in the fridge.

I think the powder has a higher concentration than the drops.

I've been having it I'm 39 weeks, I'm taking it because it's meant to help with diarrehea.

Brilliant thanks, do you know the doses and what would constitute a good quality (I went to holland and barrett)>

Infacol make the drops, I presume you can get them over the counter.
