Hi there - yes, I would definitely say they are worth it. What area are you? I had 3D scan done of DS2 and really pleased with pics. I was 32 weeks though, and ideally I would have liked to have gone 28-30weeks.

Go for it, really worth it, you'll never get the chance to do it again once baby is born!

Hi, i had one done a couple of weeks ago at a clinic in wimpole st (central london) and it was amazing. You can see so much detail and get a DVD of it plus pics so id def recommend you have one!!
All my other scans iv had NHS and it was nice to go somewhere a bit more relaxing and see it on a big plasma screen. I got told about them from my doctor but their website is www.thelondonultrasoundcentre.co.uk.
Yer i think i went at 28 weeks which was fine, £200 well spent.
Is this your first pregnancy?

Hi. I have one booked on Saturday at a place in Reading called Future Babies, a dvd, photos and growth measurements for £145. I'm 28 weeks.

Having said that, I've heard mixed reports. Some friends have had disappointing experiences and some got really good photos. I think it depends on how the baby is lying and how much room there is around them.

I had one at The Birth Company on Harley St. Is so wonderful - I watch the DVD over and over again. Be careful not to bore friends though. I had a few copies of the dvd made for the GPs as well.

SD, I thought you meant you'd sent copies of the dvd to your doctors.

doh.

I had one done at the Hendon Clinic - the sonographer is hugely experienced and friendly and her kit is only six months old so top notch. And I was 36 weeks and got photos! She did ask me not to tell people this though . Best time to get it done is 28 to 30 weeks.

I had one at 30 weeks at BabyBond (it may be Babibond) in Cirencester. It was incredible to see my baby sucking her thumb and then her toe and then yawning. However when I compared our photos to those of others I think they all looked the same. I think a lot of it is luck of the draw depending upon what position your baby is in at the time.

Yeh but my baby wasn't in the right position eitherr but the doctor was really nice and just asked me to go for a little walk and then it was fine.
Id still recommend the london ultrasound centre if you're near london cuz because my friend went to babybond and she was concerned about how much medical experience they had. The report she got from babybond was the size of a notepad with a couple of ticked boxes!!!! The one i got from tluc was a proper medical report of my baby. I didnt understand it but my doctor liked it, lol.

I did mine with Baby Premier - was going to have it done in Sevenoaks, but had to go to Harley Street in the end as the sonographer was off sick!
My friend did the BabyBond one and I actually think she got a slightly better deal than me.

I had one on weds (pics on my profile) Twas at MUMS in Solihull, West Mids. Would recommend. However, our dvd just shows a sleeping baby in the womb - no major insight into how he amuses himself in there. Dh was a bit disapointed at this but I was just glad to see baby and that all diagnostic checks were fine. At the start of the appt, his cord, feet and hands were all in front of his face so at least did get some decent pics. Tis pricey but hey ho, its not going to be a regular expense is it?

Most of my 20 wk scan was in 2D but then the sonograher would flip over to the 3D, got lovely pictures, 3 of her face, 1 of arms and hands and 1 of legs. WOuld definitley recommend, I have spent ages looking at pictures of her face in a dreamy, proud, first-time mum kind of way...

Also got 2D pictures and DVD. Cost us 30 dollars which is 10 quid, still trying to work out how it was so cheap.

Btw my 3D photos are on my profile - bit small but will give you an idea of what you may get from 3D scan

i was pretty dissapointed with my scan. lots of money i think. we had ours about 23 weeks.yes the actual seeing of baby was lovely but in all honestly for 150 pound we v only ever looked at them a couple of times.if i had a choice again i would not do it, but i was really excited and dtermined before hand so i understand wh you want it done. but for me im pretty skint and keep thinking what i could have got with money. but if you have money go for it

I think the thing with 3D scans, wait till later on, as late on as the scan company will allow, the place i had mine done was somewhere in Warrington (can't remember the name now!) and they said 30 weeks was the cut off point.

They had pics all over the walls and to me the younger babies just didn't look as lovely as the bigger babies.

Mrsgee.... It was this place......

risley

Was really fab, and pretty cheap compared to ther places, iirc i paid about £110 for a dvd, loads of pics, the scan, a CD rom of about 60 pics, and some picture keyrings.

Hi pucca, I am only down the road from Warrington, did you get your package as a special offer?

Report
pucca · 07/08/2007 10:15

Loopyredangel....I can't remember really, i had the scan done last June, i paid for the scan with dvd and then added the extras on, CD rom £10, keyrings were £5 for 3, something like that, i can't remember exactly how much it was all together tbh.
