Epsom or St Helier Maternity?

Hello ladies,

I am looking for advice on whether to choose to Epsom or St Helier Hospital to give birth. I am transferring at around 16 weeks, as we are moving locally and will be equal distance to either hospital. If you have had a baby at either hospital it would be great to have your review, thanks! It will be my first baby, and I hopefully should be low risk, although I'm aware as it's my first I may need some form of intervention.

Many thanks

I haven't had my baby yet but all my antenatal care has been at St Helier and they've been fantastic!

There’s no guarantee of either. St Helier is renowned for being incredibly busy and as they are the same trust you have to be prepared to give birth at either one. They will inform you of this when you get further along. Even for a monitoring appointment, St Helier was full and I was sent to Epsom. It’s luck on the day as to which one you get - both are great though.

Had all my antenatal care with Epsom and they were brilliant!
I decided very late (in the last month) to go for a home birth and they were very accommodating with the change.
Their home birth team were excellent too.
Very pleasant experience overall with all the maternity staff.

I had my first at Epsom. They were brilliant. I also had my after care at st Helier ( I worked at Epsom hospital but lived in the st Helier catchment area-confusing!) and they were great too.

Hey! I haven't had my baby yet, but I'm under Epsom and they have been fantastic. The hospital isn't as busy as St Helier and is probably a bit nicer.

Thanks for your responses! I'll probably fill the form in for Epsom, but go with the flow if I need to move

I know this is a bit of a zombie but coming back to this, has anyone else got any thoughts / feelings on either one?

@bdd2017 how did it go for you in the end?
