Hi all,

I’d be grateful for any feedback on the private maternity care offered at St Thomas Hospital. Also any recommendations for which consultant?!

I have been reading about Con Kelleher and like the sound of him. Any thoughts?!

Okay - perhaps if not St Thomas you could share your chosen private maternity consultants/hospitals?

I had my daughter 10 years ago there under Mr Oteng-Ntim. He was brilliant.

It's a lot of money but for us was worth it. Calm surroundings post-natally were SO worth it. Husband being able to stay overnight if we wanted him to. Very attentive service - in fact they told me off for not asking them to do enough!

Would highly recommend.

We used Kelleher for the birth of our daughter and were very pleased with him. He was recommended to us and I have since recommended him to a friend.

The surroundings are not as luxurious as some and the food portions were tiny (after being nil by mouth a tiny piece of salmon and two boiled potatoes were not the calorie delivery my body was screaming for!) but I found all the staff great and helpful. I was one and done but if I had had another I definitely would have gone back.

Thank you - really appreciate hearing your story Euro. Sounds pretty positive, I’ll just remember to take lots of snacks Grin

I went upstairs to the private ward after having my baby on the NHS part. I had to stay in extra days because of complications and found the ward very difficult. The private wing (which I gather they’ve upgraded since then) was an AMAZING relief after the ward. The midwives were amazing. I would recommend it every time. Sorry I can’t recommend a consultant but I loved the facilities (and the food!) and mw on the private ward. Best of luck.

I have a friend who is a Dr that works at St Thomas and she said Mr Kelleher is the best (also she said anyone who works at St Thomas has to be the best lol).
Does anyone have any information on how much they charge for the delivery, private delivery is charged separately by the consultant and the hospital, I am only considering delivering at the private suite (using NHS for antennal checks) but one consultant at St Mary's Lindo Way is £8000 just for the delivery! plus hospital charge I am looking at £20K budget T_T

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. Was this a C section or a vag birth? Heard he is very good at C sections but wondering if anyone gave birth with him naturally?
