We have two so far

Harry or Max (both of which I love so don't mind which one)

but DP won't move off

he really want's it and i'm sorry to anybody with DC named it but I can't stand it

it isn't a good name is it?

TutterJane Mon 09-Jul-07 13:15:52

no its odd

funnypeculiar Mon 09-Jul-07 13:16:33

Yours are better.
Of course.

NAB3 Mon 09-Jul-07 13:16:35

Whether it is a good name or not I feel you have to both agree and be happy with what you choose. You aren't so you both need to think again. Maybe suggest something really ridiculous so Harry/Max sound fabulous.

tiredemma Mon 09-Jul-07 13:17:01

Troy is not a fave of mine.

(Harry is! Ds1 is HArry!)

bobsmum Mon 09-Jul-07 13:17:09

Not a good name.

tissy Mon 09-Jul-07 13:17:17

Don't like it myslef. Can't you have it as a middle name, and hide it away?

funnypeculiar Mon 09-Jul-07 13:18:21

(Agree with NAB3, btw - dd's name was more dh's choise than mine, and I STILL slightly regret it...

sweetkitty Mon 09-Jul-07 13:18:34

I personally don't like Troy either and I know a Troy and it doesn't suit him little rough and tumble boy.

Prefer Harry TBH it's so hard trying to agree on a name isn't it?

Slubberdegullion Mon 09-Jul-07 13:18:40

I like your choices. Please vito Troy.

doughnuts Mon 09-Jul-07 13:19:02

yes, Troy Tempest ! Have it as a middle name as a compromise ! Max is nice. There are quite a lot of Harrys still around though.

SecondhandRose Mon 09-Jul-07 13:20:13

Isn't that the name of the gorgeous plastic surgeon in the US thing with Joely Richardson?

Stargazing Mon 09-Jul-07 13:21:47

love Max, ambivalent about Harry, hate Troy. What is it with these blokes? Mine kept going on about the name Stanley!! Stanley, I ask you!

doughnuts Mon 09-Jul-07 13:28:53

what is it with old blokes names - eg Stanley ?

Stargazing Mon 09-Jul-07 13:32:40

I know! awful. He justified it on the basis of the link to Stanley knives - he kept saying "Stanley! Sharpest tool in the box!" to me, over and over, as if that was going to convince me. Wally.

hotcrumpets Mon 09-Jul-07 13:35:00

DP does that with Troy

"But like Troy Bayliss, he's really cool"

um no

Troy sounds a bit porn star - ish....

hotcrumpets Mon 09-Jul-07 13:48:06

I knew it was horrible, it sounds really hard (not in a tough kind of way) to me.

I will show dp the thread when he comes in, this should convince him

Miaou Mon 09-Jul-07 13:59:59

Don't like Troy - the others are fine

(now come and add your opinion to my name thread please

tortoiseSHELL Mon 09-Jul-07 14:01:44

Troy is the name of Laura Palmer's horse in Twin Peaks.

Harry and Max are both great names!

cupcake78 Mon 09-Jul-07 14:04:12

It just reminds me of The Battle of Troy.

Please don't call your baby after a Battle. If DP insists on it then you could suggest Waterloo, Falklands etc for a middle name .

Your names are lovely, stick with them!!!
