I have been measured twice now and both times have measured 4 weeks ahead of my dates. Im having regular scans and nothing noted in those, but am a little worried now. My DD was only 5lb at birth. I have another scan in 2 weeks.
Anyone had this and gone on to have huge, or normal sized baby? Im only 5ft!! ahhh

My dates have always been at most 2 weeks out but I have gone on to have 2 normal sized children (7.15 and 8.8).

that makes me feel a little better although 8.8 sounds huge to me

I measured 3 weeks ahead with DD at 334 weeks , had a 7 lb 8 ounce baby at 40 weeks exactly..

scans and palpation do have a margin for error..

i was humungous with ds and he was 8lbs10 at birth but a far easier birth than my smaller dd. bigger doesn't mean more painful by any means.

either way i wouldn't put too much stock in the measurments, they're wrong more than they're right

I was huge (had too much amniotic fluid) and was measuring term at 34 weeks. They also told me they were worried about how huge my baby was. He was 6.13

I measured 3 weeks ahead and DS was 9lb 7oz, turned out to be a very long slim baby! No problem at all with labour and delivery, he was my first.

At one point during my pg with DS1 I measured 10 weeks ahead and they checked again to make sure it wasn't twins - they also tested me for gestational diabetes! Not reliable IMO. I gave birth to DS1 4 days before his due date and he was 8lb 1oz, long and skinny.

Thanks for posting this, it's something I'd like to know too. I'm 24 weeks today (viable horray!) and was told on wednesday that baby feels about 28/29 weeks (not possible - had fertility treatment so I'm certain of my dates). I've got an appointment with a consultant next week to discuss it. Bit worried that there might be something wrong with my baby.

The midwife asked whether I was having twins - is it possible that they could have missed twins at 3 scans?!

Also, if the baby is big will they still let me go ahead with my planned home birth?

Sorry to hijack your thread!

ziggy xx

im measuring a bit bigger too, like 2 weeks ahead. any chance baby will come before due date (i would love to...)?

and another question, someone said here that didnt have any problem delivering a big baby... is that the rule? my midwife said so, but i wanted to check with you ladies.

I heard that big babies are no more difficult to deliver, and some times easier.
I dont think they could have missed twins at 3d scan. In all likelyhood we are carrying extra water. Im having gtt test so am worried as i have heard if you do have pregnancy dibetets you will have big baby.

Me dd was early and consultant is keeping close eye so i know if any problems i can discuss. I too have another scan booked (6th one) in 2 weeks so will let you know what they discover. heres hoping just loads of water or this little girl is taking after her 6ft tall dadddy.
