Can I have people’s opinions on the depo injection please? Been on the mini pill almost 5 months now and I’m bleeding a lot on it. Last month I managed to go over the 28 days cycle but that’s the only time. I came off my period Wednesday night, had sex Friday night and was back bleeding on Saturday morning. Thinking about the depo as I don’t really want the coil or anything but want to know if anyone’s found it good or had problems with it?

I found it really convenient, and had no bleeding at all while on it (years). I think it depends when you’re planning on TTC as I’ve heard it can take people a long time. I fell pregnant around 16 months after coming off it, but wasn’t ‘trying’ all of this time, only the last 2 months. I plan on going straight back on it after having the baby :)

I had 2 different experiences on the depo. First time round I was on it for just over 3 years, never had a period, it was amazing. Read a horror story online about body becoming immune after 3 years so changed contraception. Nothing really agreed with me after that so went back to the depo, bled for a Constant 3 months, was advised to wait it out and it would settle during the next dose. It didn't. Solid 6 months of bleeding.

@ifoundthebread that doesn’t sound very good. Going to try get in with the nurse and see what she suggests. Don’t want the implant or anything inserting incase it doesn’t agree because then it’s harder to get them to take it out

At least they can take it straight back out if it doesn't agree. With the depo you just have to wait it out and it can take longer than the 12 weeks for your body to go back to normal. Not trying to scare you or anything
