Pregnancy

5 positive tests

Hi guys,
I've had 5 positive pregnancy tests, I was bleeding quite a bit and went to the hospital. A Dr tested my urine and told me I have a UTI. He also said I tested negative.
But even after this visit I've taken 2 further at home pregnancy tests and they both came out positive. I don't know what to do - it's driving me crazy. I'm nauseous, my boobs are sore and my lower back is achey. I'm really tired in general, feel like all the symptoms are there.
I stopped bleeding yesterday and took another test - yet again it was Positive again!
Any thoughts/advice?

Hello, it’s sounds really frustrating! How far along do you think you are?

Well the clear blue test said 1-2 weeks this was last sunday, havent taken a digital test again since last week Tuesday which also said 1 - 2 weeks. My husband told me to wait another week or 2 then take another digital test but its all driving me crazy i just want to keep taking them to check!

If your quite early it could be the sensitivity of the tests, I carry out tests regularly in my job and ours aren’t that sensitive and they are used in a lot of Trust’s across the UK. I’m not being mean to the Dr at all but the amount of clinical staff who do a test and don’t read it properly is quite shocking especially if it’s not something they do regularly, if your having positives at home after the hospital test that’s good

I agree with Lymphy. The sensitivity of the tests does vary. When I had a chemical pregnancy last year I was getting a positive on a test that was supposed to only show for levels of 50+ but i had a blood test which showed my level was 4 so not even sure how it showed positive!
For you at this stage it really is just a horrible waiting game unless you can get a blood test and then repeat it two days later to see if the levels are rising properly. Or waiting until the six week mark and getting a viability scan.

Thanks for the comments guys it really is so frustrating!
Im going to try and get a blood test, apparently the Dr's add 2 weeks onto whatever the pregnancy tests show?
So if I'm around 3 weeks gone would that mean its 5? Sorry about the silly questions I'm a first timer! X

Hi OP, you count from the first day of your last period, but the test will show the no. of weeks since conception which is usually about 2 weeks after your period. So if your digital test says 1-2 weeks then you’re likely to be somewhere between 3-5 weeks pregnant.

My GP told me that home pregnancy tests were a lot more sensitive than the ones they use and that their tests only show positive about 3 weeks after conception, so if your digital test said 1-2 weeks then the GP’s test just may not have been sensitive enough to detect your pregnancy.

Thank you! I'm really trying not to get excited as when i took my initial test it was only about 7 to 10 days after my period.
Ive had some bleeding too...it was light for the 1st few days then quite heavy.
Ive stopped bleeding for the past 3 days and took another test on sunday which was still positive.
Ive read some people experience bleeding at an early stage but it turns out fine amd the pregnancy is normal, not sure what to think. Have an appointment with the GP on Friday but its so far away!!! :(

So I took another 2 tests yesterday and both came out negative. I guess I've miscarried and the latter tests were still coming up as positive as there was still a fair amount of HCG in my blood. Do I still continue trying to conceive? Or give it a bit of time?

You poor thing :( That sucks.

As for TTC, it's probably up to you and how you feel. I fell pregnant the month after a miscarriage, and I heard that's common. But it depends if you feel ready.

So sorry to read that @pri16 - I’m not aware of any reason why you can’t start ttc straight away. Best of luck x
