Peppermint Oil in Pregnancy - Please Help Me!

Please someone set my mind at rest. Have used peppermint oil to try and ward off ants in my house, have used my hands to put it all round our bins and on the floor, the house stinks of it. Have now read on various websites that it should be avoided in pregnancy. I am panicking a bit. Also I drink peppermint tea every day. I am nearly 8 weeks pregnant. Advice please!!!!!!!!

Egg - don't worry, you'll be fine.
There are some oils that should be avoided in pregnancy and yes, peppermint is one of them, but if you are using them externally i.e. in not massage when they can be absorbed by the skin or in food, you will be ok. Tea is certainly ok if it is helping you with the sickness!!

Other oils to avoid: Basil, Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Coriander, Hyssop, Jasmine, Juniper, Marjoram. Oregano, Myrrh, Rockrose, Rosemary, Sage and Thyme.

Ah thanks ladies. Thought I would be alone on my thread all day. I did stupidly use my fingers to smear the oil around the dustbin (yes, afterwards I remembered you should never put undiluted essential oils on skin, regardless of pregnancy etc). I have scrubbed my hand, but it still stinks.

I had checked old threads on peppermint tea once i found I was pregnant, and it seemed that lots of people drank it. When I googled, it seemed it might NOT be so safe. Google is cack. Thanks for the link Ruby.
