Growth scan yesterday showed baby has a big belly measuring on the 98th centile 🙈, looking back at the 33w chart though this was also the case then, just wasn't commented on. Estimated weight is 7lbs 2 already so she said I should expect to have an 8-9lb baby. I know the scans aren't overly accurate though so we will see.

@itallhappens are they happy for you still to go on naturally etc?

itall I'm exactly the same..was measuring 7lb at 36 weeks, sonographer said expect a 9lb baby, I would be very surprised if that is accurate!

I'm going on holiday next week and really worrying incase DD goes into labour whilst I'm out of the country 🙈😢

Off to see the mw later, so will see how little one is coming along Smile

It sounds like many of us will be having 8-9lb babies based on these growth scans.

I'm 35+3 today but getting worried as my mum had both me and my brother at 36 weeks so that would mean next week eeekkk!!!! My friend/birthing partner is coming for lunch today to discuss birth plan.

20th September here. Am torn about whether to expect it early or late. Family history suggests I'll be late, but the baby is measuring quite big for a first one, so there's a chance it might be early. Counting the days until I regain control of my digestive system and can stop quaffing Gaviscon by the bucketload Blush Thank God it's got cooler now, the heatwave was killing me!

@snowy yeah they are completely happy to just leave me to go naturally, unless anything else happens in the meantime of course.

I feel more comfortable knowing he is on the larger side to be honest. Does it really make much difference when giving birth? I mean either way something quite large is coming out of something quite small, lol. What's a few extra cms here and there?! 😂 I have also heard a lot of people say their bigger babies were easier to labour and their smaller babies more difficult so don't think it means an awful lot.

It is very scary/exciting that it could happen any time now..... 😱😱

To anyone worrying my last baby was 10lbs, gave birth naturally. It really isnt that bad. I had no pain relief as labour was so fast, not even gas and air.

It stung a little when the head came out but after that was fine. I didnt even need stitches.

To be honest my first baby was 7 lb and his birth was awful. He got stuck so ended in a forceps delivery.

Just wanted to reassure you that a big baby doesn't necessarily mean ita going to be a more painful or difficult birth.

@itallhappens they said my baby is 4lb 13 at 13 weeks and scared the bejeus out me and sent me for GTT again but none of my others were ever over 6lbs and were IUGR so I’m taking it with a pinch of salt . Baby getting bailed out at 37 plus 4 so won’t be too big anyway .

ichifanny · 10/08/2018 11:02

I’ve heard bigger babies descend the birth canal better sometimes due to gravity etc

Report
Sushirolls · 10/08/2018 11:14

I found that my biggest was the easiest birth - DS2 was 8lbs 2oz & I had him within an hour, with no pain relief.

DS1 was 17.5hrs with an epidural at 7lbs 14oz (first DC), DD1 (who is currently Pg) was my hardest birth and she was my smallest - 5lbs 14.4 due to IUGR & was a 3hr labour with an epidural. DD2 came out of the sunroof & was 7lbs 14.4oz

Mine was estimated at 4.89lbs at 34 weeks. Any idea what that might translate to by 40-42 weeks? (First baby). He’s on 50th centile (well, just below)

Hi again all! Thanks for new thread! I’m due 24 Sept.

Is anyone else getting fanny daggers? I HATE them. Also having random pain after I wee (not a uti, I’ve had loads of dips and even a culture sent off).

Thanks @sushirolls ! I’m sure all is well. My little bean was engaged at about 28 weeks but at my last appointment at 31 he had disengaged again! 😂 hope he finds his way back there in good time. Good luck to your DD!
