New to here. This is my first post. So i was referred to EPAU with pains and bleeding. I thought I had had a miscarriage. I thought i was 6w4d at the time, had a scan which showed empty sac. Was told i would have my bloods monitored and a repeat scan. A few days later i went in to a+e in pain in my side of abdominal and was concerned it was ectopic as at the first scan they diagnosed it as Pregnancy of Unknown Location and that they couldnt rule out ectopic. They scanned again, still no change but couldn’t see any free fluid and were satisfied i was ok to go home. Hcg levels over each 48hr period is as follows: 1804~2122~2849. Another test tomorrow and scan monday. I know the last date we bd’d and i know when i had my positive Ov test so feel my dates cant be far out and put me at between 6-7weeks so am worrying that no yolk sac has still been seen. Any experiences? I am still bleeding a week on like a period but my cervix is closed and they cant see any reason for the bleed although i do have a cervical ectropium. Sorry for essay! All comments/experiences welcome.

Sounds kinda similar to what I'm having just now too! I feel your pain not knowing what's going on when they can't explain why your bleeding. I haven't been scanned yet through after 2 visits to out of hours and an emergency referral to qynaecology and an internal examination where they said they weren't concerned. Waiting to hear from epu about a scan

Im going through something similar, i thought i was about 6weeks pregnant i started spotting - had no pain but was sent to the EPU for a scan they couldnt see anything so called it a PUL and told me it could be an eptopic pregnancy, my hcg levels were rising so sent me home as was in no pain. I went back a week later and they could see a sac and ruled out eptopic thankfully! They think my dates could be wrong which is why the couldnt see anything before, im back tomoz for another scan hoping to see a little more and an healthy pregnancy.

I was convinced of my dates too, but they reassurred me that implantation can take between 9 & 12 days so which is why dates could be off. Its so hard not to worry, i was convinced i was 6-7weeks but my sac is only measuring at 5weeks. Preying its a healthy pregnancy xx

I had bleeding at 8 weeks or so... scan showed an empty sac and I was told I was no longer pregnant. I asked for a couple of days to get my head round it. I asked how Long could I wait before having to have a d/c they said I could have a week or so. Few days later I was still blowed if and pain was bit worse. Back to hospital- admitted because they thought I would miscarry that night. Did a scan and sac had changed. Internal scan showed heartbeat. That sac is now 17years old...

Just came out of hospital. Unfortunately it was ectopic but my body has started miscarrying naturally. Back friday for bloods to check levels have come down and if they havent then i'll have a laparoscopy. Thanks for support guys x

Sorry to hear that, mine was bad news too. Confirmed yesterday. To go back next week to get bloods checked

Hello ladies it is my first post here but I came here as I am going through something similar. I have started bleeding on 25 July. Not massively bleeding more spotting like but as I was expecting my period i thought that this is just that. But as my husband and I trying already over a year I thought that i will do test next morning anyway. And there was this very faint but definitely pink second line. As we were on holiday then i had to wait with any actions but didnt have any pain really. We came back to UK on Sat 28 i had repeated tests next morning and the line was definitely stronger. But the spotting/bleeding didnt stop. I obviously read the whole internet and was panicking quite a bit so went to the gp on Tuesday morning (previously having done 3 other tests, one on Monday late afternoon where the line appeared in my hands, nd two more on Tuesday morning- all positive- and clear blue showed 1-2 weeks) GP said that after so many tests i am obviously pregnant and that bleeding sometimes happen without the reason so just asked me to observe if I have any pains and go to hospital if i do. After hearing that I had previusly scheduled appoitment at the fertility clinic on the following Monday (6 August) he asked me to wait until then if no pains. So on Monday still spotting/bleeding/no pains i went for my fertility clinic appointment, very nice doctor was slightly annoyed with my GP that he didnt send me directly to EPU. But listened to my history and decided to send straightaway me to do the beta hcg and to do the scan next day (so yesterday Tuesday)
I went for a scan yesterday terrified still spotting/bleeding/no pains and heard that my bHCG is 220 and scan was inconclusive she said she cannot see anything. Was sent back home with the diagnose of Pregnancy of unknown location and asked to do another bhcg. Which i have done today, 48 hrs after Monday one.
Now i am just seating at home not able to focus on anything and looking at my phone waiting for them to call me with the results and praying that this is not ectopic :(
Is there any hope that this still may turn out to be healthy pregnancy? I am 34 yrs and this is my first pregnancy :( waited so long for it and didnt even have chance to be happy about it as I am keep bleeding 2 weeks now :(

@Wisla1906 Hi, yes there is chance. See my comment below. Hopefully everything is ok for you. I know the wait is unbearable, I just kept calling the hospital until they could tell me because I knew they'd leave it last minute to call me!

@Wisla1906 Ah sorry I thought I posted on this thread. I had some pain in the night so was referred to EPU where they took my bloods and did ultrasound/ transvaginal and they couldn't find anything at all (would've been about 5.5 weeks) and sent me on my way with pregnancy of unknown location. I had to go back 48 hours later and my bloods came back ok but still didn't rule out ectopic as they couldn't see anything on the scan. I was told that if your HCG levels aren't above 1000 then nothing would be visible on a scan anyway so try not to worry. Anyway, I'm now 15 weeks and everything is fine (touch wood). X

Thank you Kate. They havent called me this evening. I called after 8 and they said they will get somebody to call me before 22 and that hasnt happened either. So worrying :( from that stress i am not sure if this is my head projecting my whole body aching including shoulder tip pain which means ectopic and rapture i am so crazy stressed

Wisla I am so sorry you're going through this. We were lucky as we caught straight away within a month of trying however i can identify with you in the sense that this has been the hardest 3 weeks of my life rather than being able to enjoy it. My numbers continued going up steadily so was not a clear cut ectopic case which made it worse. You're probably stressing which is causing muscular pain across your neck. Shoulder tip pain is apparently a very weird pain, not a muscular ache and the consultant said that you'll know if you're rupturing as you will have fever, dizziness, feel faint and be in severe pain first. Keep me posted, wishin you all the best. I am back to hospital friday and if levels arent going down enough i'll be having a laparoscopy. Kind regards.

So they called... my bhcg dropped from 220 to 100 in 48 hrs. They think now definitely miscarriage. My breast aches like crazy and i am waiting for this heavier bleeding to happen :( :( they want to me to come back next week and do another blood test. Should i not worry anymore about ectopic? :( feel so depressed and not able to work today :(

No you don't need to worry because even if it is ectopic your numbers are dropping which means your body is dealing with it and it'll break it down and the growth has stopped therefore if you were going to rupture you would have by now.

Hi Wisla.

Thanks for thinking of me! Had bloods done and more Sunday, then should know if laparoscopy is needed. Hate all the waiting around!
