Early labour or am I just being a wimp?

I'm 38 weeks. Back cramps started while out shopping with my mom. I've had siatica but these were not like that they were cramps.
So bad I had to lean on the aisle while she rubbed my back. Came and went throughout the day untill now. Coming every 20min or so. Baby is wiggling a lot in between back pain and bumps tightening but no front pains.
I tried walking but if anything this made it worse. Lying on my side or leaning forwards onto something helps. Appetite gone completely, forced myself to eat just but now feel sick.
I have a low crappy pain threshold so I could be being a wimp!.
I've taken some paracetamol

Good plan. The pains eased with the paracetamol but I'm tightening every 15 min or so

Sounds like it could be, my baby came at 38 weeks.

There was also someone on here last week who was only feeling contractions in her back but when she got to hospital they confirmed she was in labour.

Good luck

@Spanglyprincess1 how exciting! I had my daughter at 38 weeks! :) I spent 95% of my labour lying on my side rocking slowly back and too as it was the only position I felt at ease in! Good luck!! xx

How are you this morning @Spanglyprincess1? I am 38+3 and keeping getting period pain but there is no pattern or consistency to mine.

Not labour :( stopped late last night and so far just a very active kicking bump this morning!
Heat wave next week so I really hope he comes soon!

It could well be the beginnings of labour though, don’t feel too disheartened!

Sometimes it can come and go before the real thing.

Fingers crossed!

That's true, it could have been a sort of "practice run" . Make sure you get plenty of rest and drink loads as the weather warms up.
My DD was born (11 days late) during an extremely hot summer and if I didn't drink enough I felt awful very fast.
Take care of you! Thanks

I had a very definite practice run with DC1 a few days before actual labour. If it helps my actual labour was straightforward and pretty quick. Maybe the rehearsal made the real thing easier. Hope so for you.

I get very dehydrated as don't drink nearly enough , so good advice!. I'm going to do some walking and go swimming to encourage him. My mom's had four kids and even she thought I was going yesterday but I didn't.
Fingers crossed still...so far still nothing today from bump

I’ve been having things like this too for the last week / ten days. Ive just turned 38 weeks too. Heat definitely sets it off. Starts as spasm in back and moves around the front. Happens every ten mins or so then eventually stops - sometimes for a day or so. Ended up in hospital as they they thought labour was starting at 36.5weeks but it didn’t. It doesn’t progress but one day it will do I’m a bit scared to wander far from home ☹️ At least I’ve made it to full term though.

Sounds like your body is getting ready, even if it does take a couple more weeks yet. Hopefully not too much longer; I'm feeling your pain! Flowers

A bath could ease the pains? When I got into the bath for the third time in the space of an hour or so in early labour with my first, I couldn't relax and kept sitting up which is how I knew the contractions were real, as before that they'd eased off in the warm water.

We only have a shower, unfortunately! I'm cleaning the house again as restless but the cramp type feelings have stopped again.
Hoping it will be soon as the heat is killing me

I have been in a similar boat to you.. I have been getting intense lower back pain on/off since Friday morning and now irregular contractions that keep ranging in intensity. Midwife has told me I'm in early labour and this could last for days to a week! I wish things would hurry up and get started properly Sad

Oh gosh, I hope it's soon for you!

I'm 39 weeks today and been having on off pains and sickness for about a week now too. Mostly in my pelvis and lower back.

This heat wave is almost like the final 'eff you!' to me >:(
