22 wk scan - do i need a full bladder?

Have my 22 wk scan tomorrow and this is my second pg but i cant remember if with my daughter my bladder had to be full and the notes i have just found re this scan dont say full or empty. My bladder is not really strong so if it does not have to be full it would be useful to know so i am not really uncomfortable. Is someone able to let me know, my scan is early in the morning

Thanks

i got asked to empty mine so they could see better! i was in agony! the letter said so so i did it against my better judgement! lol
they like it full for the early ones as it pushes the womb up so theycan see it better. once you get to 20 odd weeks your womb is that much bigger and theycan see it better.

I don't think that I needed a full bladder for the second one as by then there is more amniotic fluid so they can get a good picture of the baby without.
I had read that it could be useful to have some fluid in your bladder for the second one though, so perhaps don't wee immediately before?

I had 20 week scan a couple of weeks ago and my bladder was empty. Had empty bladder at both 20 week scans with DS1 and DS2. Enjoy your scan

Hiya

I had my 20 week scan 4 weeks ago. I completely forgot about needing a full bladder (blame it on the hormones!) I had drunk a cup of tea and a glass of water before my scan, which was at 10am, so my bladder def wasn't full and the scan was absolutely fine!

Enjoy seeing your litle bambino tomorrow xx

at this stage, the uterus has risen out of the pelvis, the baby is bigger, so easier to see. a full bladder might be really uncomfy, and as has been said, get in the way !!

enjoy seeing your LO tomorrow x

Hi,

I've been having fortnightly scans since 16 weeks and haven't had to have a full bladder for any of them. It may help, but I don't think it will be essential, so don't stress about it. I have a weak bladder too, so for my first scan I put a Tena Lady in my knicks just in case they pressed too hard

I was told this and did drink 1 -2 pints of water as requested.

Unfortunley they were running 1 hour late, i was in so much pain i had to go to the loo. About 5 mins later was called in and was told it didn't matter as much for the 22 wk scan then it does for 12 weeks one.
