6 weeks pregnant after 20 years trying & 5 IVF cycles

To cut a long story short, today I'm 6 weeks pregnant after 20 years of TTC & 5 IVF cycles.

I always thought that once I got that elusive positive pregnancy test then I'd be on cloud 9 without a care in the world but instead (obviously I'm absolutely delighted) but I'm full of worry & disbelief!

I can't help feeling like it's not going to work & when I go for my scan next week they will say there's nothing there.

I haven't had any symptoms at all apart from peeing more often but then I'm drinking more so that probably answers that. I do think I've lost my appetite somewhat but maybe that's stress or the drugs I'm still taking?!

No sore boobs at all which I keep reading most people get by now.

Anyone else not have any symptoms at 6 weeks?

Congratulations! I didn’t really get symptoms till closer to 10 weeks I think...not everyone has sore boobs either.
Try not to compare your pregnancy with other people it’s the best way to wind yourself up and get even more worried.
Wishing you the best of luck xxx

Congratulations! I had twins age yet seven rounds of ivf. Then I got pregnant naturally and didn't realize till ten weeks as I had no symptoms. It's perfectly normal to have no symptoms. thanks just keep going till scan xx

Congratulations!! I didn't really have many symptoms throughout my whole pregnancy, so try not to worry too much smile

Hi OP I'm 6+6 today had an early scan this morning. Cried yesterday as don't have symptoms and my boobs were sore but now they aren't. Scan was fine. Apparently loads of people don't get symptoms. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

TroubledLichen Fri 25-May-18 14:31:23

WOW congratulations!! I had no symptoms whatsoever at 6 weeks but by 8 weeks I had horrendous morning sickness that continued right through until the end. SIL has had 4 and is insistent that she gets no symptoms whatsoever with boys but gets everything going with girls.

I didn't find out I was pregnant until 10 weeks as had zero symptoms! Including negative tests.
Congratulations xx

Hi @MyLittleBeee , just got my bfp from 2nd round of ICSI Having been told our chances per cycle may be as low as 10%. Don't quite believe it and don't want to get too hopeful. Trying to be positive and DH keeps telling me off for not getting excited. Can't imagine how you feel after so long trying.

If you go on the infertility section there's a forum on bfp's after ivf and anyone nervous and in need of a hand hold! Sounds like a good place for you to be xx

Wow, congratulations.
Such an inspirational post, especially for us women that has experienced fail ivf cycles.
Your story has honestly made me smile.
Of course your going to be anxious and worried as you have been waiting a long time for this chapter of your life to begin. Try and relax and enjoy being pregnant, I know I certainly will when it my turn smile

QueenOfMyWorld Fri 25-May-18 14:52:15

You could book a private scan at 8/9 weeks for your peace of mind

surreygirl1987 Fri 25-May-18 21:44:29

Oh wow congrats! Really Hope it all goes well for you smile

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore Fri 25-May-18 22:06:03

That's amazing. I've had two successful pregnancies with no symptoms at 6 weeks. I really hope that it all goes well for you. The best advice I was given when I was pregnant and anxious was just to tell myself 'today I am pregnant'.

HeedMove Fri 25-May-18 22:08:09

Congratulations I hope all goes well. I dont feel any symtoms till after eight weeks.

MouseLove Sat 26-May-18 09:19:08

Massive congratulations.
Whilst my journey has been no where near the emotional rollercoaster yours has I'm currently almost 14 weeks with a very much wanted and longed for baby after infertility and miscarriage and I can tell that you are probably pinching yourself right now.

Don't worry!!!! I have had barely any symptoms, my boobs feel completely fine. I've had odd waves of nausea but nothing until past week 7 and nothing I would remember. And yet I cried and cried right before my 12 weeks scan because I was convinced it was too good to be true. Everything was perfect. We had an early scan at 8 weeks as I wanted to be far enough along to see a baby not a blob and everything was fine and yet I didn't believe it could be a possibility after everything we had been though.

Take each day as it comes. Break the day into blocks and try not to get ahead of yourself. Our sole focus was getting to the 12 weeks scan and then we finally believed it a possibility. I went home. Downloaded a pregnancy app and let myself enjoy the moment. Before that I was just enjoying each day, taking the moment as it was and how it could be. The fear and anxiety never leaves you but you learn how to cope.

Many congratulations and here's for a boring pregnancy for both of us. Xxxxx

Thank you for your lovely replies.

Unfortunately yesterday I had a big bleed which didn't last for long but there did seem to be a lot of blood. My fertility clinic advised to stop my blood thinners and increase progesterone. I did call the hospital but they refused to scan me under 7 weeks.

It's stopped now so I'm sat with my feet to praying it doesn't happen again& hoping my baby is still ok!

surreygirl1987 Sat 26-May-18 15:26:02

Oh best of luck! Really hope all is okay. Lots of women bleed and turn out to be fine...

Oysterbabe Sat 26-May-18 16:43:07

What a horribly anxious time for you, I hope you're ok. flowers

GothMummy Sat 26-May-18 16:47:49

Congratulations on your pregnancy and I do hope all is well despite your bleed. FWIW I had no symptoms till 8 weeks and also bled enough to make me think I was having a full period at 6 weeks with DS. Good luck.

EddieTheBeagle Sat 26-May-18 16:51:22

I'm keeping everything crossed for you op.

MyLittleBeee Sat 26-May-18 16:51:44

Thank you, that does give me some hope. I'm clinging on to any hope I can get at the moment.
Just keeping everything crossed for the scan on Wednesday.

Bumblealong1 Sat 26-May-18 16:53:03

I have my fingers crossed for you.
Please keep us updated. I wish you lots and lots of luck.

MyLittleBeee Sat 26-May-18 17:07:07

Thank you Bumble

eurochick Sat 26-May-18 17:10:46

Fingers crossed. I'm currently being run ragged by my fourth round ivf miracle. I had a heavy three week long first tri bleed with her. Apparently bleeding is more common in ivf pregnancies. I hope it all works out. X

FogCutter Sat 26-May-18 17:11:57

Congratulations on your pregnancy and fingers crossed for a healthy and uneventful one!

Try not to worry about the bleeding, I had loads when pg with DS2, it was actually like I still had periods for the first 3 months. And also no pg symptoms at all with DS1. All quite normal I think!

MyLittleBeee Sat 26-May-18 17:56:12

Thank you both. Good to hear other success stories with bleeding. It's so scary to see though!!
I've started spotting again sad
