Pregnancy

I’m scared...

Hello everyone, I honestly am so embarrassed and ashamed to say this but... I’m a teenage girl worried I may be pregnant. I’ve never had unprotected sex, always used condoms. However, I’m allergic to the hormone in most contraceptions so I’ve not been able to use them. I have serious anxiety so I’m not sure whether I’m just acting up or I could end up pregnant since the condom split! My boyfriend has been worrying about it but I’ve tried to stay calm but I generally feel so scared and worried. Is there anybody that can maybe explain some early signs of implantation and pregnancy to at least put me at ease or help me gain the confidence to get a test? It would be much appreciated, Thankyou for reading lovelies!

How long ago did you have sex? I assume your allergy means you couldn't get the morning after pill?

About a month ago, and yes, I am allergic to the morning after pill. Thankyou so much for the fast reply 🙈 I feel so embarrassed...

Don’t be embarrassed. :) The best way to be sure is to get a test, there’s no shame in it and knowing will put your mind at ease or let you take next steps if necessary. Have you missed a period? There’s not much use symptom-spotting as it’s so different for everyone.

Look at it this way- if you’re not pregnant, it’s no big deal that you pee on a stick, and then you and your boyfriend can stop worrying.
If you are pregnant, it’s a problem that only gets “worse” (I have a baby! Don’t flame me! 🔥) over time.
Better to know sooner rather than later :) What makes you think you might be, if you’ve not had unprotected sex?

Missed period is the big sign, really... But could be late, or irregular. Go and check with a test in the morning (assuming you’re on UK time) :) Best time to pee on it is first thing, if possible.

How did you find out you were allergic to the hormones in contraception? They're synthetic versions of the hormones that occur naturally in your body, so it's hard to see how you could be allergic to them if you're not allergic to yourself.

@Forgoneflyer don't be embarrassed!!

If you are pregnan just stay calm and listen to your heart. Don't let anyone push you into any decisions! Lots women have babies at 17. Do you have support? Just know that people will voice their opinions about what you should do.. But once you have decided they will most likely support your decision!

Hope you're okay, sending lots of love!

They're synthetic

There's your answer Queen...

That doesn't make them structurally or chemically different. It means they weren't manufactured by a human body.

It's possible to have a histamine response to your own hormones but it's very rare. So there may be more options open to the OP WRT hormonal contraception than she realises.

Hey darling! Your probably not so go get that test and pee on it! If your a month late then it would show up anytime of day so don't worry waiting till the morning but maybe get a twin pack and do one in the morning just to double check! I always do this as my brain is super paranoid haha! And when I got the positive (wanted it) I still did test everyday until 5 months pregnant (I'm strange and like using the tests lol 😂) let us know how it goes xx

Unfortunately the only way to be certain it to take a test as some people get symptoms but some don't.
Can you buy a test? If not maybe there is a family planning clinic near to you that you could go to or ask your local pharmacy if they offer a testing service?
