Probably worried for nothing

36 weeks. Every so often a part of baby will jut out (a foot, shoulder, elbow), but he'll move shortly afterwards and the limb will no longer protrude. I've had what feels like a shoulder or elbow jutting out of my side for several hours now, and I'm getting bit concerned as to why he hasn't wriggled his way out of this awkward position yet. He HAS been moving since (quite a lot, actually), so I don't understand why there's still this protruding limb.

Is this unusual?

Must add that whatever position baby is in is causing me a lot of pain! Right now he's positioned very low and off to the right, so whenever he moves or I have a BH contraction - ouch!

He’s either comfortable or asleep!

They do move less as they get bigger and run out of room.

One of my twins turned at 37 weeks which was just awful (for me!) so they can move around if they really need to.

As always though if you are worried gomand see your midwife so she can put your mind at rest.

Happyandshiney

He's actually been moving a lot though, I just don't understand why this particular limb (or whatever it is) is stuck in this same position!

Oh my gosh this happening to me too 😫 38+5 been told baby is engaged and in the right position but I keep getting this ridiculously painful fist or elbow or foot or whatever it is sticking out of my side and a bum pushing up just above my belly button.
Hopefully they've just found something comfortable and are sticking to it until they're ready to come out!

Sorry Birth I didn’t explain well!

My DS had been feet down. At 37 weeks he decided to turn round. He gotbas far as turning horizontally (when there really wasn’t enough for that and I was very uncomfortable) and stayed their for 48 hrs at which point he carried on and ended up head down to my great relief.

So for 48 hours I had one baby lying head down and another transverse.

My tummy looked very weird.

Your baby might just have moved position and be resting before moving again but do check with the midwife if you are worried.

I wish I could change the title to 'my baby seems to have changed position and it's causing me so much pain' - I'm in agony! 😭

@Happyandshiney wow, that sounds so painful! My baby was in an ideal head down position, now he's in god knows what position! I hope he goes back to being head down before labour!

I had this the other night I turned over in bed and a leg got wedged and looked like that. It was so bloody painful! Pop onto all 4's and rock your hips it's should free baby from that position gently Grin
