Hi,
didnt no where else to turn to only people who know what its like to go through pregnancy..
recently find out im 7 weeks and 5 days pregnant, about a week ago i ended up in hospital with serve morning sickness was kept on a drip for 3 days, was exhausted, prior to going to hospital the same day i worked a night shift all night being sick, so thats how i ended up in a&e. i came out 3 days later and didnt feel ready to go back to work as i was still being sick ( even on antisickness) so go to my doctor and get signed off for a week.. the big issue is, ive only been at my work for 2 months i started a new job then ended up getting pregnant.. im still on probbation and had to let the company know ( i work as a care assistant) so they could risk assess me. anyhow my probation ends next month, i asked my manger where i stand and cause my company is private she said i would have to discuss in a meeting with the over head bosses, on monday work rang me to see if i was to come in this week ( told them i was getting a sicknote for a week) and then said they are going to try and get me onto day shifts, the thing is im terrified off loosing my job, i really need the job for my baby as i cant claim anything only job seekers but for this week since coming out off hospital i am exhausted from being sick and keep throwing up. I dont know where i stand at the moment part of me is thinking they are going to keep me because they would not bother trying to find me day shifts and then the other part is them dreading getting rid off me, also my boyfriends mum ( who i dont think wants us to have this baby) has said to my boyfriend that i need to toughen up and to make sure im in for my next shift while i was lay on a hospital bed on a drip ( if it was only that simple) i guess
im just really stressed out and needed someone to talk to, im still yet to face work next week and worried that they will get rid, just wish things was a better situation at the moment .. Sad

I know it's difficult but please don’t worry, they can't fire you for being pregnant. Did you say if work know you are pregnant or not? If they don’t know tell them because if they get rid of you and you haven’t told them you haven’t got much room to stand on whereas if you tell them you are pregnant they cannot get rid of you unless you massively mess up.

i told my employer as soon as i found out- just the being on probation and having time off will probbaly give them a excuse to get rid, but unable to set foot in work this week had my head over a toilet 24/7 majority of this week.. only calming down today and thats through taking anti sickness..

You have lots of unions and places to talk to if they try to fire you and in the UK where I presume you are, it's illegal to fire you if you are pregnant regardless of probation period. Therefore please stop stressing as it is bad for you and the baby and it will work itself out

Gosh you poor thing :-( I was also in hospital with morning sickness so can relate to how awful you must feel :-( also the exhaustion is beyond words at that stage in pregnancy (it does get easier though so hold in there!).

Your bfs mum can keep her opinions to herself, she's not a gynecologist so she is not an expert. Every pregnancy is different so how can she comment on yours?

What sort of area do you work in?
