Opinions on name

We are really struggling with DD2s name. Plenty of time but last time with DD1 i already had her name picked out by now. We always liked Waverly but we had a few negative comments so OH now hates it. I wanted something uncommon and a bit of an old name. DD1 is Esmè and when we chose her name it wasn't very popular but now is. We like Willa but we are getting lots of negative comments on that name as well. Whats your opinion on Willa? I think what ever name we pick someones goimg to have something to say.

Personally, not a fan of Willa, love Waverly though x

At the end of the day, it's what you and DP like that counts x

Willa is a bit of a non-name, I personally don't like it.
Waverly reminds me of a boat we used to use as kids. Esme is incredibly popular now, I know 4 girls with that name.

I'm not keen. Namely because it sounds like an abbreviation of a name and I hate abbreviated names.

Having said that, she's your baby, call her what you wantSmile People will always have opinions. Just don't tell people before she gets here and they can't express an opinion. That's what we're doing for the names we've chosen.

I’m sorry I don’t really like Willa. Willow is nice or Winter

italiancortado · 23/03/2018 10:05

"Wants your name?"

"Willa"

"Wilma? Or Willow?"

Can't say I would want to be saddled with that constant.

italiancortado · 23/03/2018 10:05

Sorry forgot to add, Waverley is the train station in Edinburgh. So that's a no for me.

Purplerain101 · 23/03/2018 10:06

Don’t like it but Willow is lovely

Fidgety31 · 23/03/2018 10:07

Is Willa a girl or boys name?

I can imagine constantly being called willy instead by kids at school 😂

Purplerain101 · 23/03/2018 10:08

It’s a girls name

Here's a nice little site with both old fashioned and uncommon names, like adaline and cora etc, I do like the name willow though!

Willa sounds like a cockney accent saying Willow. Waverly is ok but I was also reminded of the train station.

I’m not keen on Willa. But if you love it go for it. When I decided on DD name I got lots of negative comments - and it’s a name that gets derided on MN a lot. But I love it, DD loves it, she suits it and I’ve found that people are quite happy to disparage your name choice when you’re pregnant but accept it when baby is born.
