Clear blue digital still at 'pregnant 1-2' at 5 weeks 3 days?

Hi,

I know I'll be told to step away from the tests but curiosity got the better of me and I took a CBD after holding my wee for a couple of hours this morning.

Should it not be 'pregnant 2-3G' by now? Not frantically worried - just a bit concerned.

Thanks Smile

Having read other people's experiences I don't feel too hopeful. I'm sure the line on my frer should be darker by now. It comes up within the time but slowly. Really hoping someone can share their experiences with CBD - good or bad. Husband away and no one to chat this through with!

Photo is of tests taken today.

Mine said 1-2 at 5 weeks

I really wouldn’t worry about it

You are pregnant - regardless of how quickly a line comes up

I had this.
I did another clear blue the next day with my first wee of the day and it had jumped up to 2-3. I must have just been border line 4.5 weeks? I then stepped away from the clear blue tests before I went mad.

Also if you ovulated late then you may only be just 4 weeks which would still show 1-2 on the clear blue.
I ovulate on day 21 out of a 33 day cycle so I always thought I was a week further along than I was.

Thanks @deeohgee. I hope you are right and that I have either not had enough hcg in my wee due to it not being fmu or I have ovulated later than I thought. Gah... hate this waiting game! x

I only have a 28 day cycle but must ovulate late so everytime I have been pregnant it has still shown as not pregnant even on the day of my missed period I have had to wait a week before it shows

That's interesting @Betty2416, thanks.

I don’t know if it jumped up as I didn’t bother testing again
I’m now 6+4 and won’t do anymore tests

That's probably sage advice @Fidgety31 Grin

In my first (and only successful) pregnancy I used these and they took ages to increase. I only got to 3+ weeks at 8 weeks- had seen a heartbeat at that point.

In my most recent pregnancy (MMC) I didnt use them but did take one a week after finally passing sac as was hoping it would be down to 1-2 weeks- and it was stubbornly at 3+ weeks. My hcg levels were very high when measured before medical management. So I’m fairly sure it would have increased fairly fast.

In summary, in my limited experience, they are not very reliable!

Yup step away. Clear blue tests are the work of the devil. Mine never went beyond 2-3, I'm 34 weeks now. I've also had the same happen and had a mc in the early weeks. They really tell you nothing helpful!
Fingers crossed for you x

I tested a little later also out of curiosity but with the frer, my line never got any darker than what yours is at now,

I'm due any day now Smile

Those tests are a nightmare try not to worry, I had bloods done on the same day I took a CB digi and the CB digi was showing the threshold for under 2,000 and my bloods were 3,500 or something (from memory)

Thanks for all the reassuring posts. So appreciated! I've booked a scan for 4th April when I should be around 7 weeks 5 days. I'd have left it later but we are going on holiday after that and I'd rather know what's going on before we go! Thanks so much x

The CB digital clearly states it needs to be fmu for the weeks indicator to work. No wonder it says 1-2 weeks if you've only held your wee for 2 hours.

I'm sure you'll be ok, OP.

Oh Blush....

Whoops. I had just assumed it was the same as any other pregnancy test. I'll try the other one in the morning. I'm not feeling any symptoms which doesn't help. Hopefully it will be better when I follow the instructions. Thanks for the heads up.

Even the FRER needs at least 4 hours...

Could've written your post myself OP. I'm 5 weeks today and when I did a CBD on Sunday morning it only said 1-2 weeks. I just don't think they're overly reliable.

My FRER's look like yours too. Im sure you'll be fine, HCG rises at different speeds in every pregnancy.

Picklesandpies · 20/03/2018 21:30

@Dandybelle Well I'm glad I'm not the only one - hopefully we are both fine and it's just those silly tests making us worry unnecessarily. I hate the timer that seems to take pleasure in making you sweat while you wait for its verdict!

@Picklesandpies yeah I think so. You just want all the reassurance you can get in early pregnancy but the tests just don't play ball! Agree the timer makes me nervous too, plus it takes foreverrrr for the result to actually show! The first one I did didn't come up with anything at all after the timer it was just blank- annoying!

@Dandybelle Update - I did another CBD with fmu and it still says 'pregnant 1-2'. Given that the first date of my last period was 11th Feb, this just seems really strange. Unless the tests just don't work for me. The only difference was that the word 'pregnant' flashed up quite quickly and a while before the '1-2 weeks' which it hasn't before.

It's really playing on my mind as I just don't feel pregnant. Do you think the doctors would consider doing an hcg test to establish whether they were rising? I should be 5 weeks 4 days.

And I know I shouldn't be testing - I'd just like to know what's going on, good or bad.

This happened to me. I didn't think about it and didn't text anymore even when it kept saying "2-3" when I was six weeks.

I had a mmc at 11 weeks, the baby had died at week 6.

You are in a difficult position as you typically don't see a heartbeat until week 9.

You would also need an internal scan as you are this early on.

If this post has made you frantic (and I'm sorry if it has) call your maternity unit for advice but unless you have a history of mc they won't scan you this early.

On the balance of probability my experience puts me in the minority. Don't forget 75-80% of pregnancies conclude with an actual baby!

Good luck and I hope you get peace of mind soon X

You can pick a heartbeat up usually from 6-7 weeks or as early as 5.5, a epau unit would usually see you with pain or bleeding regardless of history of loss but don't always offer scans. I would definitely look at HCG bloods, see if your GP will help if not you can usually get them done privately, you can also get a private scan from 6-7 weeks too

I understand your worry - I had a similar experience with CB and found I didn't show up as 2-3/3+ till about 5/6 weeks. I had a bleed at 6 weeks and was scanned - a heartbeat was detected so they can find one as early as that.

Like others have said unless you have a specific reason for needing a scan (bleed, previous MC or issues with fertility) I don't think you would get a scan. You could ask at the doctors for a HCG test but again, I think they would just say to wait and see. I know that doesn't help you, and I know how anxious these first few weeks are Thanks
