Pregnancy

So had a period then got a BFP but nothing on ultrasound

I'm hoping someone can shine some light on my situation.
We've been TTC is my miscarriage in May.
In January I had what I thought was a period, then three days later I had some pink spotting so did a test and BFP and then tested every other day all BFP (12).
On Wednesday(when my period would be due) I started to spot so phone 111 and went for a scan. They found nothing, no signs of a pregnancy but when they tested my HCG it was 590 and my progesterone is 14.8.
I'm still spotting a dark reddy brown and having my bloods redone tomorrow to see if they gone up or down. I've done a test this morning and two clear lines appeared.

Anyone out there had similar, what was the outcome?
I suffer from health anxiety so always assume it's cancer or at something else bad.
Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you maybe too early for anything to show up on a scan, Hcg of 590 would be quite early stages of pregnancy.
Have they booked you for a rescan in a few weeks?

sianus178 · 22/02/2018 14:50

No I have to have my HCG and progesterone measured again tomorrow. Will let you know what they say.

Have they checked for an ectopic?

sianus178 · 22/02/2018 16:12

They did an vaginal and normal ultrasound yesterday and everything looked normal. Just no signs of a baby. Also had no pain just abit of period type aches.

At such an early stage I doubt anything would be seen which is why they hold of scanning here until around 7weeks or when hcg has reached over something like 1.5k or something

Loonyluna16 · 22/02/2018 16:21

You can't see anything on a Scan until your hcg is 1000 or above. Your just a tad too early too see x

sianus178 · 22/02/2018 16:31

I hope so. We've been trying since our last miscarriage in may.

So just had my bloods retaken. Will find out if they've dropped or gone up. But I'm bleeding heavily now, so I'm guessing they'll go down.Confused

Everything crossed for you sianus xxx

Loonyluna16 · 23/02/2018 18:18

I know it's so hard but you need to try and relax. Get yourself a nice bath with a book/film. Look at this chart at 5 weeks your hcg can be anywhere between 18 and 7000. An increase is an increase ❤

So had a period then got a BFP but nothing on ultrasound
Smellyjo · 23/02/2018 18:18

Oh sorry missed your last post with the figure. Is that definitely bad news?

Rachie1986 · 23/02/2018 18:19

Ah OP so hard not knowing. Crossing everything for you and that you get some answers soon x

I had similar OP and I'm afraid it was an ectopic. I had what was like a period, then spotting but then got a BFP. The spotting was an odd colour - looked like prune juice. It's great news that they're keeping an eye on your levels. You wouldn't be able to see anything on a scan with your current HCG levels but if the levels don't increase normally, they may diagnose a pregnancy of unknown location. If it is an ectopic or PUL they will probably keep measuring your hormone levels and if the levels don't drop on their own they may offer you methotrexate.

I hope your levels start to rise probably but if not please feel free to ask me a question.

sianus178 · 23/02/2018 18:52

Thank you everyone. Especially Kirinm.
I am bleeding now like my normal period not prune coloured I don't think more bright red.
I just want to know now. This will be my second failed pregnancy in 10 months.

Sorry to hear your update but if the pregnancy ends on its own, it's so much better for your body than having to have medical intervention. I've had multiple losses too and I know lots of women on mumsnet have. There is lots of support and advice when you feel like you need it.

sianus178 · 23/02/2018 19:22

Thank you all

How did you get on today OP? X

sianus178 · 26/02/2018 15:53

So I ended up having emergency surgery last night. I had a right side ecpotic pregnancy and my tube ruptured.
Had the tube removed. They said it won't affect my fertility. But I feel I need a break now from TTC.
