Constipation

Ok so after a particularly painful BM and red blood on wiping I realise that I need to do something about my constipation.

I'm on ondansetron, which I'm pretty sure makes it much worse.

Where do I start with this? I'm drinking as much water as I can and eating all the veg I can stomach - unfortunately the HG makes that difficult...

I feel your pain!! Also on ondansetron and the constipation is grim, as if it's not enough to have terrible sickness.....
I have found that lactulose has helped a bit, along with managing to drink more water. A GP friend of mine said if I was still struggling to try glycerin suppositories too.

Ondansetron is really bad for constipation. Loads of water, take your lactolose and I found a kiwi a day helped. I also do a Bircher thing for brekkie, that seems to help. Soak a spoon of raisins in apple juice overnight. Add to plain yogurt (I love the Greek style stuff) and a spoon of ground flaxseed and I find my insides start up a bit.

Ask doctor to give you laxido - it's just a stool softner and not a laxative but really works and just adds fluid to the poo and makes it lots easier to pass.
You can buy it in chemists too.

Lactolose. Pharmacist gave it to me when I was 9 weeks and suffering. He said 10mls twice a day, drink half a pint of water with the dose and another half a pint half an hour later. It draws water into the bowel to soften stools.

I have been suffering quite badly too, increased my fruit and veg and water intake but also got lactulose. It has kind of helped, i’m still getting backed up and quite bloated with it but when I eventually manage to go (and I do always do manage) it is not painful like it had been

Movicol, it is the only thing that has worked for my pregnancies and I have REALLY bad constipation. Lactulose didn't even touch the side in my case.

I'm still really struggling with constipation. Does anyone get any pelvic pain with it? I suddenly feel painfully bloated and am trying to stop panicking but I don't know if it's normal or not.

Kir- yeah that's normal, feels like really bad gas and then boom once you hav4 been it goes away.

Movicol/laxido are pretty much same thing- laxido is preferred for some reason?

Lactulose is horrid and never worked for me - I think it was down to being so sweet and not everyone tolerates it.

My constipation has flared up again and the pain from the bloat is agony. So was out working yesterday, not at my normal office and was out in middle of nowhere. Left a couple hours early as the bloat and nausea were really bad. Got 5 minutes from work, hit a pothole and destroyed my tyre. Ended up taking 4 hours to get sorted and get home, all the while in agony with bloat and feeling horrendous with nausea. Not a good day at all
